I'm looking through the new stories today, in part because i was expecting to find a new one of mine posted. Well, I do find it and right above it is a title that looks vaguely familiar. Its a Lesbian Sex story titled "Stockroom: nite atz movie" or something equally illiterate. Since I have a story here title "The Stockroom: A Night at the Movies" I just HAVE to open it.

Son-of-a-gun (or son of something else) it IS my story. Not a single word from the prelude to the afterword has been changed. I immediately posted a comment to that effect, fire off a report to Laurell and send a scathing (for me anyway) email to the supposed author. Of course Laurell took care of it and I see the story has been deleted. I thank her very much and of course there is no way they can compare stories to see if they're plagerized. If the moron in question had enough sense to do something different with the name and for heaven's sake at least change the characters and delete my thanks to my editor there's no telling when I might have found out.

Time to start running some phases through Google again. I found an altered version of another story at a different site that way and fortunately the webmaster there also deleted the offending story after I presented the evidence that my story pre-dated the other by nearly a year. However at least that person changed the names of the characters.

I know imitation is the sincerist form of flattery but I mean... REALLY!

You didn't happen to see if the "author" had other stories submitted?

If s/he stole one, chances are it's not the only one.

Agreed.

Has the "author's" entire account been removed?

Sucks, don't it, patricia. *HUGS*

It's about time I did the Google thing as well.

I googled a little. (ok I realize my stories aren't even good enough to be stolen but...let me dream please! lol) I didn't find anything. Do you just google your story titles? That's what I did.

I find it's best to pick a line from the story itself. In quotations marks so as to get an exact match.

The "author's" name was "Alivy" and it was the only story he had posted. I checked. I'm sorry I should have mentioned that. And Rob is correct (as always and BIG hugggggssss to one of my all time favorite guys) its best to use a line from the story and put the quote marks around it.

Thanks all! Haven't found anything on mine. I think I would be pretty upset though. Glad they took care of it so quickly for you.

Laurell is a bulldog about tracking down plagerists (and unauthorized copiers) regardless of what site they post at. Tell her when you've found a copied story ANYWHERE and she'll go after it. Sometimes she can't do anything, Russian and heaven help us, Chinese sites don't give a rat's posterior about copyright laws but she does more for us than I think we can ever thank her enough for.

*HUGS* back. :)

I'm doing the Google thing and sometimes it can't find the story on Lit.

Hi Pat!

That sucks puddle scum but it's all too common. I check periodically, but none of my work is ever stolen. I don't know if I should be gratified or offended.

Stop by the AH more often sweetie.

My stories are all over the place.

I have a unique name and having a copyright notice at the start of each story helps me to find the stolen stories because most thieves don't bother to remove either my name or the copyright notice.

Og

You sure? I thought bots picked up stories all the time. Sheesh, even mine are out there.

I guess I've been lookin' in the wrong spots or not looking properly to begin with. :( No doubt the latter. I'll be a wee bit more diligent hereafter. At least I'll get an ego boost.

Yeah, a couple of mine are on a Chinese site. *sigh*

And one's been translated into Italian (?) and posted as a single blog entry somewhere. But it's got my name on the top.

Did you find one?

Huh. I googled and couldn't find any just now. Maybe Laurel has been bulldogging.

I wouldn't count on that too much. I just sent this post to her:

Stolen Story

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a link to another story of mine that appears on "Ask Jolene", one of iterally hundreds that do not belong there.

http://stories.askjolene.com/35086/F...+special+treet

Here is where it is posted on Literotica. The name has been changed, and the name of the woman in the story, but otherwise it is identical.

http://www.literotica.com/stories/sh....php?id=223445

Besides that, the phony Boxlicker101 still has hundreds of my stories posted there. I have never posted there.

I don't know that she has ever reacted to PM's I have sent to her on this subject. The "Phony Boxlicker101" is somebody who has appropriated my name and posted over 200 of my stories there. I don't believe the name is copyrighted, but the stories are.

I've only written one, but it is now posted on a Russian porn site. :( No mention of my name or Lit associated with it. They only took the first page and they buried it below a bunch of really extreme videos. Not someplace I'd ever look for stories.

AskJolene is branching out. It used to be just a search engine, but now people can submit stories and it has a fledgling forum. All my stories listed on that site do link back to Lit so far as I know. Though I know some other authors stories here don't link back to Lit and those are the ones that Laural needs to know about. Some of yours link back here and I guess many don't. I wonder if their bot is capturing stories and not referencing the original site anymore.

I haven't seen any of mine that link back here, but I haven't tried all of them. The one about Komal was strsaight plagerism, and it appeared on another site or blog by the same person (I think)

I don't know if AskJolene stole my stories or not. More likely, somebody stole or copied my handle and posted under it. There are 252 stories posted under Boxlicker101 and I did not write all of them.

I want to complain directly to them, but I don't know who to send an email to. When I go to their site, I have never found an address to write to. I am really not interested in joining the site just to gripe. :(
