I'm looking through the new stories today, in part because i was expecting to find a new one of mine posted. Well, I do find it and right above it is a title that looks vaguely familiar. Its a Lesbian Sex story titled "Stockroom: nite atz movie" or something equally illiterate. Since I have a story here title "The Stockroom: A Night at the Movies" I just HAVE to open it.
Son-of-a-gun (or son of something else) it IS my story. Not a single word from the prelude to the afterword has been changed. I immediately posted a comment to that effect, fire off a report to Laurell and send a scathing (for me anyway) email to the supposed author. Of course Laurell took care of it and I see the story has been deleted. I thank her very much and of course there is no way they can compare stories to see if they're plagerized. If the moron in question had enough sense to do something different with the name and for heaven's sake at least change the characters and delete my thanks to my editor there's no telling when I might have found out.
Time to start running some phases through Google again. I found an altered version of another story at a different site that way and fortunately the webmaster there also deleted the offending story after I presented the evidence that my story pre-dated the other by nearly a year. However at least that person changed the names of the characters.
I know imitation is the sincerist form of flattery but I mean... REALLY!
