I am sure this question has been asked plenty of times, but I was unable to find it anywhere.

I have been writing for a while, both as a freelancer and as a game developer. Since I am apparently somewhat decent at it, I was considering taking on something a little more complex, such as a short novel. The problem I am terrible at marketing, PR, networking, and all the hard parts of this job.

Are there things such as agents or producers for smut writers? Where might I look for one? Any advice is welcome. No wrong answers.

If you're also a game developer - you could use both sets of skills and make a visual novel or walking simulator type game? There are plenty of adult games on steam and a good writer would be refreshing given the poor quality that most of them have.

I already did and it is selling pretty well (Check The Queen of Phalli on Steam, forgive my shameless self promotion). Still, I have this --- let's not call it dream but fantasy --- of writing an actual book.

I am sure there are websites where you can send links to agents. I had agents in my writing career. Some are lazy and do nothing. Others really hustle. Find the latter category. They are the ones who get you the meetings and the sales.

Have a look on Reddit. I'm surel there a groups of authors/developer with the topic agents, publisher

If you write queer characters, JMSBooks is a great indie publisher to work with. I've been publishing with them for a while as Davina Lee. You're not going to quit your day job, but it will expose your work to a wider audience. Great people to work with. Can't stress that enough.
I'm looking forward to the Sony Pictures Animation production of 'Demon Hunters of the Kitty Cat Café'.

For smut (do you mean erotica) writers? No. Although such writers might have an agent for other genres, and happen to also publish (usually under a different pen name) erotica. For Romance with heavy spice? Yes. What's the difference between erotica and Romance with heavy spice? Plot balance. But erotica is also an area that's heavily self-published.

But worry about that once you've written the novel, as they're not interested in what you might do.

But for "producers" you mean "publishers." Unless you really do want to focus on game dev.

There are erotica publishers, and certainly Romance publishers. Many of them don't require an agent. But Query Tracker is a site which lists agents and their details. Publisher's Marketplace is another, but requires a paid subscription, to see deals, agents, and publishers. These are all general, so you'd need to whittle lists to ones interested in whatever you've written. You can also look through Amazon or other online stores for books that match your manuscript, find the publishers, and look them up for their submissions criteria.

There are some applicable Reddit subs with info and discussions. r/pubtips covers traditional publishing in general, so how to write queries, etc. Also r/eroticauthors for focus on erotica. r/romanceauthors for focus more on romance, although spicy ones are fair game.

BTW. Modern publishers don't free an author from "marketing, PR, networking." Although not an absolute, you've a much better chance of getting a deal if you have an audience that you've curated.

Very useful info. Thx :)

QueryTracker is a good start. The site will tell you which agents and publishers accept the genre you are targeting (including erotica) with links to them. Once you identify those that interest you, you can generally interact with them directly.

If you finally get frustrated enough to try going it alone and self-publishing, the Alliance of independent Authors is a great resource for how to do so most efficiently and effectively. There is a fee to join but you will save far more with their resources than trying to navigate all the scams out there by yourself.
