I am interested in how others go about using the search tools here. I've tried to find a particular story I read a while back. I thought I had it in my favorites list, but it is not there. I tried looking using story tags but that is rather exhausting.

I then tried search, but that requires remembering particular titles or phrases.

Any pointers would be helpful.

The best you can do is to give us a synopsis of the plot, the names of any characters, and anything else that sets the story apart, and see if it rings any bells. Sometimes the hive mind can do what search engines can't.

If you've favorited any authors, you might go through their list of stories.

Ideally, the author entered enough tags when submitting the story that you could narrow things down that way.

Searching for a story that involved "cheating", "blackmail", "interracial", etc, works to filter out irrelevant stories if the author entered the tags.
