OK, I waited all week it seemed and my story got posted today.

http://english.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=190567

I'm pleased with it, but I always think I can do far better (I'm a perfectionist, I admit). I've gotten two good e-mails (anonymous feedback) that really brightened my mood. It's had a lot of views, but not so many people have voted. I wasn't looking for such a positive response in my first submission to literotica, but I'm not complaining!

I have another story pending approval (non-erotic). Well, anyway, hello to all the fellow writers!

I've R.V.C.ed your story. Excellent story. Keep writing! Just to left you know, the average votes/views is 1/1000.

I think it's higher than that. Mine is about one third of 1%, or between 3 and 4 per thousand. I can't help thinking it should be more.

I agree, I can't understand how somebody would read a story, and then find it too hard to click a button. Maybe I should shut up, 1 bombs are a bitch!

A view doesn't always mean a read. Sometimesw a reader will click on a story, decide it's too long, or decide not to read it for some other reason, and leave. Normally, a person who did that wouldn't vote, not having read the story. That counts as a view, though.

I like to think that people start to read one of my stories and start wanking or frigging, and get off before they reach the end. Since the story has done what they wanted, they don't read to the end and never get to the voting place. At least, that's what I like to think. :D

Good point.
That got me to wondering, what would be the 'perfect' story?
It would-
A: Have to catch, and hold the reader's attention.
B: Appeal to a wide range of tastes, (or lack thereof) and both genders.
C: End with a bang, at the same time as the reader, thereby increasing the
chances of receiving their vote.
D: Allow for factors such as how fast the viewer can read, and how fast
they 'finish'.

Am I missing anything? (Besides talent and ability, lol)

It felt as if my most recent (on the boards this morning, woot!) took a long time to make it through, this time. I was so impatient!

The voting thing is interesting...but if 10% of the people who "view" my story read my story, I don't care how many votes I get! Holy crap, I got a lot of views! I never got that at stories.com. :p

And as for voting, most readers who aren't also writers don't get the point. I didn't start voting until I actually posted a story because I didn't figure a vote mattered (I must have internalized the midwest's voting mentality. ;)) And I didn't realize that those votes nudge the authors in certain directions, etc. So...yeah.
