Finally my solicitor has received a medical evaluation from a Consultant Neurologist confirming I should have been treated for Lyme Disease when it was diagnosed - and not one year later

Well we all knew this (except the neurologist who treated me) but a proceedure has to be followed. It now means we can commence legal proceedings against the original neurologist. It's just one step on the path. May take another three years to get the matter into court unless the neurologists insurers agree to settle, which I doubt. If I win, there will be no huge USA style payout - that has never been the point. I just want to the arrogant bastard to understand he was wrong.

Congratulations on gaining something from your unfortunate experience.

I wish you had been treated earlier but at least an acknowledgement that you should have been would be better than denial.

Jeanne for Og

Lyme disease! I'll be damned! After you went through all that? Well, at least now you know, Neon. Do you know how you got it?

Bottom line is, I hope this settlement makes you feel better. Pulling for you.

I wanted the same thing out of my medical malpractice suit. Wanted to hear the jury say GUILTY!

Didn't get it, though. My ex and my attorney persuaded me to settle. I did get to see the asshole squirm through some intense questioning on the witness stand, though. His defense team couldn't even PAY an expert witness to testify on his behalf.

Hope you get what you want out of the case, neon! :rose:

Finally! May the outcome be swift and highly embarrassing, if nothing else is possible, to the idiot who got you into this mess.

Thanks Guys and Gals.

Bizarrely, it has taken almost two years to find a Neurologist willing to put his name to an evidence statement. The neurologist who failed to treat me is very highly regarded, most other neurologists approached by my solicitor refused to give evidence against him

Facts: He knew it was Lyme Disease at my first appointment, he wrote Lyme Disease on my medical insurance claim form.

I then had tests and analysis and two further consultations.

My insurers refused to pay for the third consultation deeming it to be unnecessary. So instead of informing me or my Family Doctor of the test results (confirming Lyme Disease) he argued with the insurers over non-payment of his invoice. Finally, eight months, later he wrote to my Family Doctor confirming I had Lyme Disease and it was probably too late to treat it!

If the court case goes in my favour, I'll report him to the UK Medical Council and try to get him disbarred from practising.

Hope you nail the jerk.
A friend has had Lyme Disease twice. Both time he had heart attacks from it!
Somehow they caused no damage at all.
Be careful with Lyme, it's more dangerous than most Drs will admit.

Neon, howinhell did you get Lyme's in the UK? Visiting the colonies?

Caught it in Portugal in 2005, here it's called Febre de Caca - Hunter's Fever. We had an outbreak in 2005, which happens to be the year we planted 3,500 trees in the middle of a pine forest...

Bad luck compounded by an idiot

Hunter's Fever? How appropriate, since it's usually carried by deer ticks. Nasty stuff! Death to all Idiots!
