Up till now, if your dog attacked a person the most you could expect was a $1500 fine and your dog would be put down - regardless of the severity of the attack.
Now the powers are proposing massive fines as well as jail time for the owner of the dog, up to 21 years in cases where the dog kills someone.
About time!

wow...

btw, hello sexy :)

you've been M.I.A lately :(

I've been around :)

The law changes have passed the Lower House, and are expected to pass the Upper House in the next couple of weeks.
This is a good thing - the last attack here was on an 11 yr old boy, who has been left with permanent disfigurement to his face and neck. He was walking with his parents when the dog rushed him in a park.

I despise people who don't control their dogs in public.

what kind of dog bit him?

It was what they call an American bulldog.
In real life, it was a pitbull - but often the owners call these different things in order to keep them off the dangerous dog register and so they don't have to muzzle them.
Complete scam.

I have nothing against any breed of dog. Irresponsible owners however, are another thing altogether.
Training, socialising and understanding any dogs nature goes a long way. Sadly, too many people get a dog and then forego the work needed to train.
