Finally! But is it too good to be true? Anyone else had a PM from Frisky Fiction?

about money for stories? I recognise the name of the person who messaged me, which gives me a bit more confidence in the offer, but since no-one has ever offered me anything before, not even one of those *really* dodgy story-site messages, I am flummoxed...

So... has anybody else heard from Frisky Fiction and does it ring true to you, too?

I've not seen anything from that one. However I know that you don't want to ever pay them for anything, hang onto a copy that is signed and dated just in case they try and pull the no no this person wrote it scams. And well, keep in mind you are writing a story not doing a painting or anything, you don't lose anything if it is a scam. ;)

I do hope it is not a scam if it makes you feel better. :cathappy:

Five.

What are the contract terms? How long are the electronic rights held, and are they exclusive?

$1/100-200 words is just not worth my while if I can't leverage them in other venues.

Yeah, I got an offer. They're offering $15 for a 1500-3000 word story, a story a month, minimum one story, maximum 12 per year, right?

I'm thinking about it. Will they keep our author names on it? I've worked for less, and I can knock out a 2000-word story in a few hours, or just give them stuff from the slush pile I have, so that's not a problem. I must have like 2 dozen unpublished stories that just need polishing. I'd do it for the publicity if I can get publicity out of it.

I got one. It said this:

"I'm writing to you because either
a) you expressed interest in a thread I started last year on Literotica, or
b) I've read and enjoyed your work here."

So I figure I got it because of A. I love Arafura's AV, though.

I haven't gotten one, but I know a writer here who did. He's hesitating because he asked them some specific questions on copyright issues and they're sort of vague and waffley so far on the response. I hope it's a good thing though.

One thing I'm mostly concerned with is the fact that they pay $15... by the time that's converted to UK currency it's £7.50 and I don;t know how much of that I would lose changing it to UK currency... It may not even be worth it by then.
<sigh>
Shame all the e-publishers I can find are US based... I would really like to submit some stuff for money...
I was so excited to have been selected, too.

Hello and Happy New Year!

I'm writing to you because you expressed interest in a thread I started last year on Literotica. I write for the Frisky Fiction site ( http://www.friskyfiction.com ). This site provides high quality short erotic stories for paying members and also for sites who pay for the fiction feed.

Would you still like to write for Frisky Fiction? Our rate is $15 per story and we reserve electronic rights only. We are hiring writers for the year, and positions of varying writing frequencies are available. If you'd like to write for us just once, that's great! Or, if you're up to a story every month, we'd be delighted to talk.

Story guidelines are as follows:
- 1500-3000 words (The rate is per story, not per word.)
- Story must contain at least one explicit sex act (oral counts!)
- No incest, bestiality, rape or other non-consensual acts.
- Well written prose with sexy imagery
- Stories may be serialized ONLY if each chapter can stand alone

If you are interested, please send a brief description of your writing qualifications and a sample story to: webmaster@friskyfiction.com

If you are curious and would like to know more about our site, please contact me (Cassie) at any of the following:

webmaster@friskyfiction.com
ICQ: 382-655-283
Or, by PM on Literotica username=Arafura

PLEASE NOTE: We treat our writers with respect, and would never publish your story without proper payment. We operate with detailed contracts to protect both our rights and yours.

Lastly, if you have any writerly friends on Literotica or elsewhere who you feel would be interested, please feel free to pass on this offer. There are plenty of positions available!

Thank you for reading, and we look forward to working with you.

I did go to the site last night... but my head hurt to much to more than scan it cursorily....

Not sure. Nope... not at all.

I received 100 Australian dollars for a story for an Australian Magazine. After Bank charges I received £12.76. It was classed as a competition "win" so whoo-hoo! Tax free.

Edited for PS. You could donate your earnings to Pine Ridge - They'd get far more out of it than you would.

Well that's an option if this is kosher... but I could really do with some added income myself, truth be told.

Yeah. I got that PM too. They are asking for stories with "at least one explicit sex scene". Obvioulsly they've never read my shit.

Sorry for my quick reply, I meant it to reply only to Imp, specifically .

Come on. And just what are you paying writers for your ebook? Absolutely nothing? It may not be worth your while, but that is not necessarily true for others.

Have you read the email? Sure, it's not much money and I could make more spitting, but ... it is something and if you did your research? You'd know as I do, that the site is high profile within porn sites.

Cheers babe.

Any self-promotion is worth it, Mils. I personally couldn't write to that kind of target, my head doesn't work that way. My single reservation about the site is it's 9.99$ per month subscription fee, I'm really curious, for more reasons than the obvious, how many people will pay that, if they don't pay, the site can't pay.

Looks to me like

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but it looks like an online zine trying to drum up some writers. There's no guarantee of publication, it's not really an offer of any sort, there's no specifics.

I would for sure go for it if you want to get published in the erotica field. A writing career is like a snowball. You start small and hope the thing grows into something substantial. That's rather putting the cart before the horse, though.

Before you actually submit anything, you might peruse the Novel and Short Story Writer's Market. It's available at most bookstores, and there's a listing of numerous legitimate publishers of erotica. You can get a feel for what the magazines in the genre actually pay beginning writers.

I just flipped through my copy from 2005, and actually Frisky Fiction's offer is on the generous side for beginning writers.

J

just wondering, but definitely something to look at, is do the authors actually get credit on the site?

Without actually subscribing to know for certain, when you check out the site none of the pages they show or the sample story they let you read actually include an author's name on them anywhere. Don't know if this continues after you pay your money or not.

If you're thinking of doing this for publicity and to get your name out there, had better be certain your name is actually going to get out there

I received the same offer and I have some questions about it also. Do they take stories currently on Lit. and, if so, would I have to delete it from Lit. Would I be able to post the se story to Lit. and Frisky?

$15.00 isn't much, :(but it's better than nothing, and something better might come of it.

I haven't responded to their offer yet, but I probably will.
