This is my newest revision of the FF series. The story will center around Final Fantasy VII in the beginning, but will grow and become more. This will not follow events as the games did -- where’s the fun in that? I have taken the world of FFVII, and flourished it with locales from FFVIII and FFX. This is the continent of Spira, which is actually several landmasses, but being that it sits in the middle of the Anuire Ocean, thousands of miles from any other land, it is considered a single continent. In ages past, Spira was split into several kingdoms, but the Shinra Family, working their way into the high ranking positions of every nation, were able to manipulate events in their favor. Shinra Enterprises was founded in 1921, providing the world with the latest weapons and technology.

In the 1930s, tensions rose among the nations as Shinra Enterprises discovered they could siphon energy from the planet and use it as fuel -- beneath the surface there lied rivers of what appeared to be a greenish translucent liquid. Tests of the liquid proved it had the power to heal and sooth the soul. It also contained a large amount of energy. Shinra dubbed this “Mako Energy”, and built reactors to siphon it, using it as an alternative to oil.

Many people cried out, saying that they were stealing the blood of the planet and of Mother Gaia. But Shinra, having no passion for religion, ignored them, and ultimately, all the governments voted in favor of a Mako-powered world. The Children of Gaia were temporarily silenced, but not stopped.

In 1939, a large rebellion that had been forming underground rose and attacked all of Spira, determined to destroy all the Mako Reactors. Some joined the rebellion, others fought n the side of the governments and Shinra. The result was the Crimson War, named such because the ground was caked in blood and littered with dead bodies as the greatest war to ever rock Spira raged on. Ultimately, however, the rebels were crushed. The war officially ended in 1945, when the Shinra Family successfully gained leadership over the entire continent -- they had provided genetically engineered soldiers to fight in the war, and that, combined with the world’s dependence on Mako, opened their pathway to leadership.

Years passed, and peace resumed, though citizens were wise not to give the new government any reason to arrest them -- all criminals did their time in Blackburn Prison, a horrible place to visit, let alone live. As to mirror that, however, they also built Gold Saucer, a massive recreational resort with five star hotels, restaurants, games, shops, the world’s largest video game arcade, a huge casino, and many other attractions. It was given its name because the entire establishment sits upon a gigantic golden plate, erected into the air by twelve golden poles, which house elevators. Directly under the Saucer lies a massive parking garage, and just beyond it, an Aerodrome for incoming and outgoing airships.

At some point in the late 1980s, Shinra discovered that they could crystallize Mako and the resulting stones could give a human magical abilities. By modifying how, when, and where these orbs were made, they could produce “Materia” in a variety of colors and abilities. Shinra began using Materia and Mako to produce better soldiers than the ones they had used to win the war, and thus created the Elite Guard.

Midgar is the biggest city in Spira, with a population of nearly ten million. It is divided into seven Districts: Quinnhaven, Zernith, Emerald, Amberleigh, Azerael, Zira Heights, and Zangaard Point. Zira Heights is home to the wealthiest families in Midgar, and Zangaard Point is the primary corporate division of the city, home to the headquarters of all major companies, including Shinra Enterprises. In the center of Zangaard Point lie the Twin Towers, the tallest buildings in Spira. North Tower houses the headquarters for Shinra Enterprises, while South Tower acts as the base of operations for government-related operations. Gavin Shinra and his son, Rufus, have offices on the top floors of both buildings.

Each District has a Mako Reactor, and as a result, the land around Midgar has become dull and dried. There are parks within the city, but any grass or trees there have been artificially engineered. My version of Midgar is more like a futuristic New York City, with no plate or anything like in the game. However, there is an area between Quinnhaven and Zernith where there are hundreds of abandoned warehouses and buildings. Although technically part of Quinnhaven, it is commonly referred to as “The Slums.” Because the Slums are beyond what is considered the “Main City”, the government cares little about the residents there. For a small one bedroom apartment in even the poorest neighborhoods in the Main City, the rent is 3000 Gil a month. People are forced to make contacts and get good job opportunities, or they end up having to leave the city. Some are too poor to even buy a bus ticket out of the city, and it is these folks that end up in the Slums.

There are always the Gardens -- Three military academies spread across Spira where troubled youths can go to gain discipline and education. Once a year, recruiters visit the Gardens and talk with the students about opportunities with the Spiran Army or Navy. The Navy has both seaships and airships, and the Army has regular units, and the Elite Guard, my alternate to SOLDIER (hey, if spoken, you can‘t tell if one is talking about a soldier or a SOLDIER, so I felt compelled to change it). The Turks act independently of the military -- they are like the CIA/NSA/DIA of Spira.

While Midgar is the capital of the nation, Junon is the headquarters of the military. All new recruits must pass a series of exams before getting commissioned or enlisting. The results of said exams determine Enlisted or Officer. Ranks are the same as the US Army and Navy, except Crewman instead of Seaman. Airships are created in Rocket Town, and it is also the home of the Space Program.

The Jupiter Mountains are vast and many, and it is impossible to cross them. All who have tried have met certain death. One’s only hope is to find an entrance to a valley or canyon through the Ancient Forest, though very few traverse its deeper regions and live to tell of it. There are rumors that within the Jupiter Mountains lies Cosmo Canyon, the fabled home of Mother Gaia. It is said that the two silver moons, Luna and Nalu, represent Gaia’s twin daughters. It is believed their father and Gaia’s lover is the spirit of the Sun, Solaris.

The huge empty area south of Junon is the Great Plains, I just dun feel like editing the map, lol. In the Great Plains, there are powerful storms and many tornadoes during the warm seasons. Also, I made Costa Del Sol too far north, so let’s pretend it and Gongaga switch places, lol. Costa Del Sol is on the southeastern coast of the middle island, and Gongaga is north, near Nibelheim. Again, dun feel like editing, lol.

So, my idea for this game will take a new version of the story, and take it back a few years. The game will start prior to Sephiroth turning evil, and before Avalanche has been formed. I will be controlling several characters, split up into two parties to start. One party is comprised of a team of Elite Guards -- First Lieutenant Richard Biggs, Major Cloud Strife, Lieutenant Colonel Zack Fair, and their leader, Colonel Senn Sephiroth. The other team is a unit of normal soldiers, led by Brigadier General Barret Wallace. Some of you can make chars to be on his team if you want. Also on his team are twins, Dexter and Jessie Wedge. Between the two of them, they have a collective knowledge of science and engineering that surpasses almost all others.

So, here’s my idea for the start of the story: Barret and his unit run a small military base in Corel Village. One day, they see a cloaked figure committing petty crimes and then vanishes into the mountains. Barret sends a few men after the figure, but they all turn up dead. He sends another group, twice the size, after the figure, but again they are all killed. Following standard protocol, Barret calls HQ and requests Elite Guard assistance. Back in Midgar, Cloud, Zack, Biggs, and Sephiroth (the latter two prefer to be addressed by their surnames) are enjoying some down time in a bar called Seventh Heaven. Earlier that day, Cloud had encountered Tifa Lockhart (played by TearsoftheWorld) and she asked him to come to her bar. The next morning they are sent to assist the problem in Corel. The Elite Guard, accompanied by Barret and some more of his men, including Dex and Jessie, pursue the trail of the figure, and find her on the other side of the mountains, near Nibelheim. Sephiroth delivers the final blow to the woman, who seems intent on killing them. As she dies, her cloak falls back, and she looks into Sephiroth’s eyes, and transfers her thoughts into his mind.

They all stay at an inn in Nibelheim that night, and Sephiroth has nightmares about the thoughts the old lady transferred to him -- they were of pain and torture, but not of himself, or even the lady -- it seemed as if they were visions of the pain the Mako Reactors was causing Mother Gaia. Suddenly determined to stop it, Sephiroth proceeded through the night and decimated the Nibelheim Reactor. When the others discovered this and approached him outside the burning Reactor, he grew apprehensive, as if he was slightly disoriented. He keeps quietly chanting to himself “All Humans must die… They must pay for their crimes against Mother…”

And then he snaps, convinced Mother Gaia wants him to destroy all humans. He nearly destroys Nibelheim, kills many people, and wounds even more, but in the end, Cloud defeats him in battle and sends him flying into the burning Reactor. They think he’s dead, but his body falls through an opening, into the Mako River below.

Shinra covers up the entire incident, and conveniently forgets the surviving characters actually survived-- Cloud, Barret, Biggs, Dex, Jessie, and any chars you guys create. After this, they realize Sephiroth was right, and that Shinra should be stopped. They can then disguise themselves, return to Midgar, and hide out in the basement of Tifa’s bar. They can discuss plans to fight Shinra, and I even have a their behind their name -- “We’ll crash down upon Shinra like an avalanche, encasing them all in icy tombs…”

Maybe after Cloud at the team go to Corel, Tifa decides to visit Nibelheim, and thus, she’s there for the attack? And Aerith (played by Shukaku) could maybe be traveling from city to city selling flowers? Maybe she too was in Nibelheim at the time of the attack? That could explain how they all came together. So, for other chars, you can either be a member of Barret’s team that survived, or someone who was in Nibelheim and decided to join the group.

My bios will be coming tomorrow. Here's the map.

Holy SHIT. You've really thought this one out, huh? Jesus, I actually had to re-read it a couple of times just to get everything straight in my mind! And yes, Aerith is MIIIIINE. *growls at all the Aerith-wannabes* XD Anyway, I'll be sure to post up a bio soon.

And the image for the map doesn't work, fyi.

What do you mean? The image loads fine for me. Hmm... Lemme try and link it differently.

OOC: Yes I'll definitely need to re-read it at least once or twice before I can grasp everything. Ugh I just wish I didn't have like 10 different homework assignments due.

if Tears takes up Tifa, I'll take up someone. Not sure who though...

http://s120.photobucket.com/albums/o178/TheJeffinator/FF Zero 7th Heaven/?start=140

This will take you to a series of pictures I took in The Sims 2 last time I did this game. They're shots of Seventh Heaven, Tifa's bar. Now keep in mind, this image was of last time, but we could still use it for this time. I's up to TofW. Also, the characters you see are supposed to resemble Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and Marlene, lol.

EDIT: Also, the first seven and a half paged are of thumbnails. Go to Page 8 and start viewing with the pics that are titled Snapshot.

Okay, you'll notice some of the images are not supposed to be there. Ignore them, lol. Given TofW accepts this, here is my explanation of it: The ground floor is the bar and restaurant. You'll see the bartender/cashier. You'll also notice the kitchen and the head cook. Next to the kitchen, you'll see what was Barret's Office in the old game, since he owned the bar. This would be Tifa's Office in this game. Up the stairs, you come to another kitchen, a den, and a ton of bedrooms. This was built on when Cloud and Barret decided to recruit more operatives for Avalanche in the old game. You'll see right next to the stairs there is a big room and then a small room with a kid's set up, and a bathroom between them -- Barret and Marlene lived there. The large room with a blue bed and a private full bathroom was Cloud and Tifa's room in the old game. This would be Tifa's room in this game. You'll notice at the back, two larger bedrooms. One belonged to Vincent, and the other to Biggs and Jessie in the old game. All the other rooms, as you see, have half-bathrooms. And then there is a shower room. I'm thinking in this game, maybe this second floor was used as a bed & breakfast, if the bar was in the slums? Maybe she offered rooms to people for very cheap prices? The rooms Barret and Marlene may use could have been a set up for parents traveling with a young child? Maybe after they return from Nibelheim, she lets them use that room? And, obviously, she'd let Cloud have one of the big bed rooms :p.

Under the stairs, there is a spiral staircase leading to the basement. It would be here that they set up hq. You'll see in the pics the long table with many chairs, the three monitors, three computers on the desk, and the scientific supercomputer control center next to it.

So, whatcha think?

Also, I'm thinking we should start the story during the attack after all, so that way we can all start posting at once.

Oh, and another thing I forgot to add in the intro -- If you absorb Materia, or fuse it with an item, it gains those abilities, but if you use more than one of the same exact type, it strengthens the ability. For instance, if you absorb three Fire Materia, you could put Fire (Level 3) as an ability. No normal human can absorb more than ten Materia orbs without losing control of their power and going insane. They can remove one and absorb a different, but only ten orbs can be in their body at one time. This is not counting items. You can absorb them by holding the marble-sized stones in your hands and focusing. You open your eyes and it's been absorbed. The same is true for removing them -- you concentrate hard, and the orb emerges from your palm.

However, if you've had what Shinra called a "Mako Shower," you can handle thirteen Materia in your body. All Elite Guards must take a Mako Shower upon acceptance and subsequencly have thirteen Materia aborbed at all times, plus their weapons and items. The Mako Shower also enables their hearing, sight, feeling, strength, stamina, speed, and agility to increase. But, they can only take this shower once in their lifetime -- any more would result in "Mako Poisoning," which drives them insane. Mako Poisoning is also the result of too many Materia absorbed.

Okay all, sorry, I keep getting distracted and wasn't able to finish my bios, and now my brother keeps whining to get his turn online, so I say fuck it and I'll post the bios after his ass is asleep.

*crashes in* Jeff, I demand to write with you. Especially since Ninja turtles died. :nana: Heya Tears. ^_^

Well hello Lusty! I think Shukaku would tackle anyone who might take Cloud away from Aerith, but I have several other chars, as you can see, lol.

Just a warning, if we start doing IC posts anytime soon I'm gonna need some pushing and guiding as I have no idea what I'm doing. XD

Oh, and my bro decided he was tired and went to bed, so I'm back on. He's got an interview tomorrow, so HOPEFULLY he'll FINALLY get a job and stop living off me, lol. He's been unable to pay his half of the rent TWICE now.

I was thinking Selphie. If that's alright.
I'm good Tears. How ish you?

Cool. If you want, I can play Irvine. And if no one else wants him, I think I may take Cid Highwind too, make him a Captain in the Navy air fleets, and eventually have him join Avalanche.

Cloud Strife

Birth Date: July 31st, 1992
Age: 19
Weapon: Buster Sword
Materia Abilities (Self): Fire (Level 4), Lightning (Level 4), Barrier (Level 2), Heal (Level 2), Sense (Level 1)
Materia Abilities (Weapon): Lightning (Level 5), Power Rush (Level 5)
Note: If Cloud uses his Lightning at full power, and then channels it through his sword, activating ITS full-powered Lightning, his sword will unleash a Level 9 spell, but he’ll be exhausted afterwards. And Power Rush is an ability I invented which allows him to slash his sword and send waves of energy.
Occupation: Formerly a Major in the Spiran Army Elite Guard. He is now a member of the Shinra Resistance group Avalanche.

Background: Cloud was born into a family that didn’t want him at all. When he was five, they packed up to leave Nibelheim, and informed him he would not be allowed to go. He was left all alone with only the clothes on his back, dropped off on the doorstep of an orphanage. Before leaving, his father told him that if he wasn’t such a little terror and could control his temper, he would have been able to go with them. As he watched them drive off, Cloud sank to the ground, hugged his knees to his chest, and for the first time since he was a newborn baby, he cried real tears. Then a lady came out, who had been informed Cloud would be arriving. She was Miss Neela Keene, and Cloud found he liked her very much. She was young and cheerful, but always had her dark hair up in a bun. She looked to be about twenty, but her maturity level made her seem much older.

Neela became a mother-figure to Cloud, and with her around, he was able to control his anger. Even when he started school, and some kids began to bully him, he maintained his temper. But one afternoon when he was six, a few older kids began taunting him about his family. Finally, Cloud lost his temper again, grabbed a stick, and ran at them with it raised above his head. Just before making contact, the three bullies fell to the ground, then got up and ran away, crying. Cloud stared in wonder as he realized what had happened -- some girl with black hair had appeared and punched each one in the gut. She introduced herself as Tifa Lockhart, and before long, Cloud was taking martial arts lessons with her and her master, and he calmed back down some.

Cloud and Tifa became best friends, but he broke her heart the night of his 14th birthday, when he told her he intended to join the army. They said a teary goodbye as Cloud boarded the bus that would take him to Corel Village to catch an airship to Junon. Upon arriving, he was given a number of exams to test his abilities and qualifications. He passed with higher than average scores, and was recommended not only for Officer Status, but for the Elite Guard. He had to undergo nine weeks of boot camp, his Mako Shower, and then six more weeks of training to make sure the Shower was successful. Then he was given the lowest Officer rank, Second Lieutenant, and assigned to a team.

On this team, he met Zack Fair, who became his new best friend. They completed numerous successful missions, and shortly after turning 15, Cloud was promoted to First Lieutenant. When Cloud was 16, he was promoted to Captain and put in charge of a team of five regular soldiers. This didn’t last long, however, as the government decided to take the top four Elite Guards and put them into the ultimate team. Thus, Cloud, Zack, Biggs, and Sephiroth were assembled into a unit. When Cloud was 18, he was promoted to Major.

Then, one day when he was 19, Cloud ran into Tifa in a mall in Midgar, and she asked him to come visit her at her bar. The following day, he and his team did go, and Cloud and Tifa were able to catch up on what had happened over the last five years. The following morning, they received orders to report to Corel Village. Cloud said goodbye to Tifa, but promised to come see her when he got back.

Barret Wallace

Birth Date: May 15th, 1980
Age: 31
Weapon: Machine Gun, concealed in cybernetic arm.
Materia Abilities (Self): Lightning (Level 6)
Materia Abilities (Weapon): Quake (Level 7)
Occupation: Formerly a Brigadier General (One Star) in the Spiran Army. Now the leader of the Shinra Resistance group Avalanche.

Background: Barret was born and raised in Corel Village by his single mother -- his father had ditched her upon the knowledge she was pregnant. Shortly after he turned four, his mother began to develop a rare but debilitating illness. She became more dependant on him, and when he was six, instead of going to school, he went to work, cleaning mining equipment. He worked as many hours a day as they would let him at his age, and was able to keep food on the table. However, when Barret was eleven, his mother passed away. Not knowing what else to do, he enrolled at Trabia Garden, where he learned all the educational skills he was deprived of when he was younger.

When he was 17, Barret left Trabia Garden and joined the army as an Officer. He got to see all over Spira, and even did a six month tour of duty in the southern regions of El Nido, where he met a beautiful girl named Isabelle. They fell in love, and were both heartbroken when his tour was up and he was sent back to Spira. Luckily, she was able to get some money together and moved to Spira, residing in Corel Village. They began meeting up whenever Barret had some leave time, and when he was 22, he asked her to marry him. A year later, they had their wedding.

Shortly after turning 27 and being promoted to Colonel, his daughter Marlene was born. After that, he was able to get stationed at Corel to be closer to his new daughter. Two years later, he was promoted to Brigadier General and given command of the military base there. Another two years passed, and certain conditions caused him to request Elite Guard backup.

Irvine Kinneas

Birth Date: June 12th, 1990
Age: 21
Weapon: Sniper Rifle
Materia Abilities (Self): None
Materia Abilities (Weapon): Haste (Level 2)
Occupation: Formerly a Staff Sergeant and a Sniper for the Spiran Army. He is now as member of the Shinra Resistance group Avalanche.

Background: Irvine’s parents died when he was just a baby, and as soon as he was old enough, he was sent to Galbadia Garden. He was always charming his female friends, but lacked focus, and got poor grades. He did have incredible aim, however, and when he was 16, he was accepted into the Army, but as an Enlisted, since his grades had not been high enough to enable him to get higher scores on the tests.

From boot camp he was a Private, then a Private First Class, and because his shooting skills were so accurate, he was promoted again to Corporal when he was 18. By age 20, his skills had gotten him promoted to Sergeant, and a year later, to Staff Sergeant, and in charge of a team of sharpshooters. After the “terrorist” group Avalanche makes its presence known, he is sent to assassinate them after the Turks gather sufficient intelligence, but ends up joining their cause.

Cid Highwind

Birth Date: March 16th, 1977
Age: 34
Weapon: Spear
Materia Abilities (Self): Sense (Level 10)
Materia Abilities (Weapon): Haste (Level 10)
Occupation: Airship Captain in the Spiran Navy, up until he joins Avalanche.

Background: Cid was born in Rocket Town, where his father designed and built airships. He admired his father’s work, and dreamed of one day sailing the skies himself. He did achieve his goal, for at the age of 19, he decided to join the Spiran Navy. He was accepted as an Officer, given the rank of Ensign, sent to boot camp, and then assigned aboard the SAS Breezer (SAS: Spiran AirShip). Within a few months, he was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade.

At the age of 22, Cid was promoted to a full Lieutenant and placed in command of security aboard the SAS Infinity. Three years later, at age 25, he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and placed as Chief of Operations aboard the SAS Maelstrom. Less than two years later, he was promoted again to Commander and became the Executive Officer of the Maelstrom.

He was beside himself with joy and honor when, at age 29, he was promoted to Captain and given command of a brand new top of the line ship, the SAS Sovereign. He had commanded the ship for five years when he received orders to transport the recently captured Avalanche members to Blackburn Prison. But, he eventually joined their cause, and his crew, being as loyal as they were, agreed to follow their beloved captain.

I’m thinking Cid will come into play later on, after we find a reason for Avalanche to be captured and all, lol.

Well, my chars are posted. It's up to you guys now to post your chars, lol. Then I'll start the IC thread.

EDITTED T3H BIO
Name: Vincent Valentine
Date of Birth: March 3rd (exact year unknown)
Age: Unspecified, but older than Colonel Sephiroth
Weapon: Tribarrel Revolver/Rifle
Materia Abilities (self): Demi 3, Reflect
Materia Abilities (weapon): Ultima
Occupation: Former Turk

Background: Vincent once worked for Shinra, under The Turks. He was a brilliant strategist, with a cold, calculating tactical mind. But when he met a young woman named Lucrezia, who was a brilliant scientist working with an older scientist of even more brilliance, he took a backseat in his job, becoming the kind of guy who was out in the field to protect scientists. But when she got involved in a project that he felt would not only ruin her career but possibly take her life, he tried to talk her out of it. For his interference, he was stripped of his position, and sent to an up and coming young scientist for use as a test subject.

There are no records as to what was done to him, and he refuses to talk about it to anyone, calling it his penance for not forcibly preventing Lucrezia from joining the project that cost her her life. He slept underground in Nibelheim, beneath the Shinra Manor, in a stasis of his own making.
