This is a closed thread between myself and Lotharian. We may invite certain people to join us later... but don't invite yourself. ;)

* * *

Aeris Gainsborough sat in the common room of the Red Dragon, Wutai. The twenty-two year old ex-flower girl sat alone, her green eyes somewhat vacant as she watched her glass of cola turning round, and round, as she slowly manipulated it with her delicate hands.

Her time was fast approaching, and she knew it. The last Cetra... she didn't have time, and couldn't take the risks, for adventures like the one today. Rescuing Yuffie and Elena from that monstrous Don Corneo. Not that she didn't care about them - far from it - but she knew something dreadfully important was going to happen soon, and she would be at the nucleus of it.

It was late, she realized, and she was the only member of AVALANCHE still in the common room. Even those Turks had retired at last... She didn't quite know what to think of them... they'd fought before, of course, and were the henchmen of the company that only wished to steal her away and perform hideous tests on her... but at the same time, they were strangely likeable.

She took another sip of her drink, brushing a silky lock of hair out of her face, thinking that she should probably head to her room soon.

Tseng came down the stairs in the same stoic manner he normally did most things anymore. He was having trouble sleeping and had decided to go on a walk to see the town they were at war with only about six years ago. Yes, before Tseng's time as a Turk but he still remembers all that was going on at the time time.

It was back when he and Aeris has been childhood friends, but all hope of that was all but lost with what he was now....

Tseng sighed to himself. There were those brief moments he regretted the choice he made, but they were only brief. Soon enough was Tseng's mind back on the matter at hand. He was on vacation to relax for another day still! And that Don had really put a hamper on today.

When he came down the stairs he noticed that one of the only people up still were Aeris whom seemed to be lost in a drink. Maybe she was thinking of all that was happening to?

He walked up quietly behind her and then spoke in his firm voice to wake her from her thoughts.

"You should be getting some sleep. If you and the others are heading out in the morning, you'll need it."

Aeris Gainsborough

At the sound of Reno's voice, Aeris jumped in surprise. She spun around in her seat, her clear green eyes wide, but they soon softened. A small smile creased her lips, before she laughed lightly, like tinkling bells.

Placing a hand over her chest, she took a deep breath, looking at the floor for a moment, before looking back up at Tseng... her old childhood friend. So long ago...

"You gave me quite a fright Tseng..." She said, smiling still. "Guess I'm a little wound-up."

The Cetra girl gazed at him for a few moments, in his crisp suit and serious demeanor. So much had changed... She remembered the times when they'd laughed together, playing in that playground in Midgar. That awful Midgar - but now he worked for that very city.

((Yes, starting this again after much... encouragement from Breath >_>))

Tseng smirked slightly as Aeris jumped from him sneaking up. She was still the same little girl from their youth. He remembered all the times he had fought off those bullies for her. He had changed so much... Back then he wouldn't have dreamed to have handing her over to that mad man Hojo.

Tseng kept a frown from showing on his face as he thought of recent business. "Well, I could see how being around those AVALANCHE nut jobs would put anyone on end." Tseng said with a small smile.

"So what has you up? Want some free minutes or just having trouble sleeping?"

Aeris Gainsborough

She pursed her lips at Tseng's definition of her friends and comrades as 'nut jobs', but didn't comment. After all, like Tseng had the right to say that sort of thing - at least her friends were for a noble cause, not like the Turks who only represented the greed and oppression of an economic and political empire.

"A little of both," she replied. "I don't sleep well anymore."

Aeris looked away from him, back to her drink. "You could sit if you want."

Tseng nodded slightly and took a stool right next to where Aeris was sitting. It had been a while since the two had actually sat together to discuss things non-business related. Actually, the last time they sat like this was just before Tseng was transferred into the Turks.

"Are you thirsty? I'm buying." Tseng said as he souted at the barkeep for a Sake.

"Thank-you. How's your mother doing?" Tseng asked. "And yourself? Have those AVALANCE guys been keeping you safe and well?"

I ought to read thread OOC's more carefully. ;) Sorry for cluttering.

Aeris Gainsborough

"I already have a drink," Aeris responded, "But thank you."

A few minutes later, the barkeep arrived the with the kettle and two shallow glasses for the strange drink. Aeris did not generally drink alcohol, and merely left the kettle where it was.

By your mother, Aeris assumed Tseng meant Elmyra, the woman who had raised her, and Aeris did indeed view her as her mother. "The last I heard of her she was doing just the same as she always has been - perfectly fine."

She cast a somewhat critical eye on Tseng. "I'm doing the best I can. Learning a lot. The world is changing." She moved her gaze away from him, as if unable to meet his eye. "'Those AVALANCHE guys' are my friends. I don't know if you knew this... I actually became involved with them in the first place when Cloud rescued me from the Turks."
