In 'It's a Wonderful Life', does the angel-or-whatever-he-is have a name? And what is it?

I can't remember and (against all reason) the video store doesn't have a copy.

Anyone know?

The angel is indeed Clarence. The cop and the taxi driver are called Bert and Ernie and were the source for Jim Henson naming his muppets. Just a useless bit of trivia.
