Released in November, 2006, with Will Ferrel, Emma Watson, Dustin Hoffman , Maggie Gyllenhaal...

I chose not to include a link to the film, thinking one should see it for the first time without forewarning, to better enjoy.

Other than saying that the mind teasing cleverness of the film keeps one watching, even through some intentionally plodding portions, it is excellent entertainment, especially for writers.

Anyone seen it?

Minor correction. It's Emma Thompson.

Who pulls off the best performace of 2006.

Great movie.

Well, thank you Liar, sometimes these posts of mine about films and books don't get much notice. Ahm, now I need go back and see why I did Emma Watson instead of Emma Thompson, curious....

Yes...very entertaining.

Yes. A good movie. and Emma Watson is the hottie who plays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies. She might even be 18 by now.

Yep...that just connected events for me...on an adjacent channel tonight was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, in which Hermione was about twelve or so, Emma Watson, and I was thinking of how the years have passed and she is now, as you said, about eighteen.

"Stranger than Fiction". is, as both you and Liar noted, a 'good' movie, few really outstanding moments or revelations, but just that edge of fineness, that kept the viewer 'into', the film. Happy to know at least a few found similar enjoyment.

Yup. Liked it, too.

And always nice to see Will Ferrell in a "serious" role. Yes, I know it's a comedy, but he shows (like he did in that Woody Allen movie whose name escapes me) that he's capable of playing something resembling a real human being - not just his usual "look at me, I'm a complete lunatic" roles. Which are of course also very entertaining in their own way...

I liked it. Something I actually liked Will Farrel in. How bout that.
Well to be honest, he doesn't really do much except walk around with a sad puppy face. And likewise, Dustin Hoffman doesn't really do much other than play Dustin Hoffman. It's the wimmin - Thompson, Gyllenhaal, Latifah - that steal the show.

I liked Stranger than Fiction a lot, if for nothing else that it had a ton of originality.

Was it flawless? Nah, but movies rarely are. Strongly recommended for anyone who enjoys quirky, make you think movies.
