Fighter or Lovers (closed for And1 and me)

Sonali was an Indo-British girl who had completed her law and joined the firm Stanley Asoociates as a trainee divorce advocate.
In a year she had worked real hard and was now promoted and was assistant to a senior advocate and it was time she would gain a partner and handle some cases alone.
She is 26 yrs old, black eyes, long black hairs, fair colour (If it was not for her face and hairs anyone would think her to be a full British Girl.
She usually wore crisp suits a white shirt with black skirt and black Blazer (the companies uniform), and was generally soft spoken.
She handled her work carefully but sometimes she felt bad with what she was did when she felt a couple could makeup and need not take divorce but as a profession she had to go through it.

Today was Tuesday and yesterday she was informed that some senior lawyer will be joining the firm and she too has been promoted to partner him and they would be sharing the cabin.

Andrew Watson was a successful lawyer and was about to start his first day as a senior partner at Stanley assocaites.He had been directly sought out by them and had agreed to a major contract which benefitted him mostly.

He arrived at work and met his new boss,"so glad you could be here my dear boy please I'll introduce you to your new partner now" the old man spoke.Andrew followed non plussed to who his partner might be more focused on his job,he viewed divource for what it was and as a bachelour really didn't consider himself an expert omn realtionships and why people marry then split.

It was tuesday morning, the hapiness of promotion had sunk in and now i was waiting to meet who my new partner would be!
Just then the intercom in my office rang and Mr Charles Stanley called me to his room to introduce me to my new senior partner.
Well i got up from my chair and walked towards his office and was thinking to myself Senior Partner, my foot, why can't he be equal or junior then me, and why on goddamn earth he had to join in today when i had to handle two clients. In this thought i reached the office and knocked the office door and i was asked to come in.
I saw this young guy sitting on the opposite chair probably in his late 20's or early 30's.
He was really handsome and all, but well i had to wait and see, and i offered my hand to him for handshake and introduced myself

Andrew smiled at the young lady who was introduced as his partner,"Andrew Watson it's a pleasure to meet you Ms Stevens" he grinned sizing her up.The boss then sat them both down and explained what he wanted from them as far as the firm wanted,he then gave Andrew the key to the office they would be sharing and hurried them off to work.

"So Ms Stevens looking foward to working with me yes" he inquired opening the office and letting her enter first.He watched as she sat down while he leaned against the door waiting for her to say something.

I smiled looking at you and thought to myself as i settle down that he is a gentlemen atleast a rare trait in lawyers!
"Yes offcourse i hope it will be nice to work with you, please come and sit down!" i say smiling, and as you settle down i go to the water dispencer feeling thirsty and get two glasses of water.
"So Mr. Andrew could i know something more about you and well since we will be working we will soon get to know each others style of working!"

Andrew took the glass of water and smiled,"well my style is all about doing the best for the client and making sure that everyone gets what they deserve" he grinned sipping his drink and watching Sonali intently.He could tell she was nervous,"so what about you whats your style" he asked her puttong his glass down on the desk.

I smile looking at you and reply "Well I really don't have a style, people are here to get divorced and we are here paid to have them divorced!, ideally though i had like to save marriges which could be, but as the rules state we must not intervene in a client's wish and must get them through their divorce"

I nodded,"good sense anyway we better get to work otherwise the boss will have second thoughts whats our first case" I inquired sitting down and finshing my drink waiting to get to work.

"Well the first case we will be handling today morning shall be of Mrs Vance, she had been married for last 14 years and have finally broken up with her husband, the fight is on for the maintainance and custody of their son, here is the file if you had like to go through it!" i say and pass you the file

I look at the file,"hmmm any reason for the divource" I ask trying to figure out an angle for us to work from to convenice the judge to give whats best for our client.

"Well nothing big, his husband works late in night, and likes to go out with friends on Sundays, he doesen't have time for her and the child, also he had taken to drinking lately, nothing that cannot be taken care off, but as rules state we have to get them through the divorce!" i say but there was pain on my face as i said it

I looked up at you,'Soali you got to understand in our job nothings every easy or even pleasent I've found it easier to be detached from the clients and view the case for what it is" I tell you.You look at me wondering how I can be frank which I could explain but choose not to.

I look at you in disbelief, though your advice was honest but i felt bad as to how we could forget what people endure through a divorce, specially women! and i look away from you after mumbling deciding not to speak and get back to the file waiting for the client

I notice you decide not to speak to me,shrugging I make a few phone calls.The rest of the day passes rather quickly until its time to head home,"could I intrest you in dinner Ms Stevens" I inquire as I lock our office up for the night.

I look at you and think well is it just a casual introduction dinner or , well i shut down the thought and said "Ok! I think we can have a dinner together, do you like food courts or some restaurants?"

 

[And 1]

I smile,"I know a nice resteruant near my place I'll drive us there" I grin offering you my arm and heading to the car park.30 minutes later we've arrived and are escorted to a table,we sit and you order while I look through the menu.

Finally both of us have ordered the food and I look at you and decide to speak and clear my throat as to begin the conversation
"Mr. Andrew i don't want to be disrespectful or blunt, and i am aware you are much senior then i am but i think the way you deal and the way i deal are quite different, i like your way at times like in the case of Mrs.Vance, but i don't like being so rude and inconsiderate, i am a bit inexperienced but i like and prefer to be friendly with my clients, it does hurt me a lot when i see they need not go throught the trauma of divorce, but i am unable to help it!, while you just take it as a pure case like others, how could you do it?"

 

[And 1]

I rasie an eyebrow,"your intitled to your opnion Ms Stevens but here's the facts we're lawyers and sometimes we have to make decsions that aren't all rosey and may seem tough but at the end of the day thats our job like or not" I tell you point blank.You sigh and turn back to your meal as I order the best wine for us since this dinner should be more a celerbration of our partnership not a agruing session about our differing views on our jobs.

I felt taken a back by the statement of yours, you had a kind and innocent face and i thought you had same opinion like i did but unfortunately...
i kept quite knowing i am a junior partner in the team and if i had to keep my job must follow your instructions, i decided not to take up the topic again and see with time if you were really so flat out, althought i still could not belive you could be so hard, somewhere i thought that this man must have another side to him which was caring, but atleast now i could not see it

Dinner seems to pass quickly and I order desert."So Ms Stevens could I intrest you in a night cap back at my apartment" I ask moving through my desert as quickly as i dared.

I look at you and reply "Surely not Mr. Andrew we need to report to work at 8.30 Am tomorrow!" eating my ice cream

I chuckle,"my your an eager one aren't you" I tell you finshing off my desert.I look at you as you finsh,"my place is only a few minute away and I feel it would benefit us if you agree to a night cap and I promise we'll be at work on time" I smile placing my hand on my heart.

"Thank you but i still think i had better go to my flat, it is also just round the corner, infact the large building there!"

I shrugged,"fine suit yourself Ms Stevens I'll see you then tomorrow forgive if I'm late good night" I murmed before leaving you to sit there and pay the bill.Your ideals were nobel I would admit and you seened a real go getter,"proabley single too" I sighed trying to think of a way for you to losen up.

I smiled and said goodbye to you and watched you walk out of the restaurant.
I sort of liked you but i was still unsure, But why was i unsure that you are a nice guy?
Your conduct was good, everything seemed fine except we had different views on how we had like to work!, the rest as it seemed was that we could be friends atleast, i payed the bill and walked to my flat, and slowly went to 7th floor and opened my appartment going in and changed into night dress after my daily shower and slept peacefully.
Next morning i got up and quickly took a shower and breakfast and moved to the Underground tube station to go to the office, i was 5 min early which meant i would reach office on time, and as train came i boarded and in 20 min. i was at the office.
The office doors were still locked and i was waiting for the security guard who was supposed to come at 8:55 and open the door, still 2 min left when i heard a familiar sound
