Most of the stories I've read have an element of realism. Is it OK to post pure fiction? I have always enjoyed writing erotic FF but have never tried a truly original piece.

Absolutely! In fact there's a whole science fiction / fantasy category for those who wish to genuinely stretch the boundaries of imagination. In addition, any category is open to true stories, fictional stories, or stories with elements of each.

One thing you might consider would be posting threads like this to the Authors' Hangout. That's where most of the general talking-about-writing threads go, as well as God knows what else. This thread (Story Discussion Board) is for detailed analysis of individual works. You'll probably get more and faster answers on the AH.

Best to you -

Fiction?

Yes, write fiction. I write fiction and 99% of what I write is completely made up but I have gotten messages asking for photos of some my characters. Those characters and the scenes they are in exist solely in my head. Some stories are based on true events, I am sure, but this is primarily a fiction site. AT least I think it is!

The stories I have written and continue to write are 100 percent fictitious.

I don't understand what you're worried about. That someone's going to object to your stories because they think they're true? That would be a first! :D

Believe me, even the stories on Lit that swear that they're true are mostly made up. This is fiction, not journalism.

We, as writers, all draw upon our real life experiences in order to give context to our stories. Even in a sci-fi story there has to be some sort of contextual background that makes the story believable and allows the reader to be drawn into the plot. I have frequently read stories that left me asking, 'could this really happen?' If the answer is no, I usually don't finish reading it because the story doesn't draw me in.

good lord, don't tease me, ya stud....!
Don't even give me a glimmer of hope that James exists out there somewhere! <grin>

*grin* James is quite the popular lad, to judge by feedback. He was originally going to be much crueler, but he charmed his way into his current role. Still, if you think he's bad ... wait until you meet Sebastian. He's levelled everyone he's encountered, including Carson. ;)

So you're a female horse who works at a space station seducing cat creatures while captining an 18th century merchant vessle?

Clearly. That or I'm the other half of all of those stories - a humanoid male cat creature living in the 1400's working as a sailor on his brother-in-law's ship while manufacturing a scold's bridle. ;)

All mine are true... because you all know I'm a bi-sexual male 1/2 fairy, who moonlights as a fallen angel, vampire and the god of the witches to make spare change. :p

That explains a great deal about you. ;) (Like your smoldering and sensual attractiveness.)

I have to space out your stories, dearest... or I'll get all dehydrated! :catroar:

Lately a lot of the journalism looks a lot like fiction.....

I guess that means I'm an 18th century voodoo queen who makes a habit of possessing the bodies of college coeds. :D

You know I broke my first horse at 13 and my first guy at 14. :p

I'm sure there was something in this sentence after "13," but for some reason I never get any farther.
