Fewer Comments Than Usual?

Has anyone noticed dramatically fewer comments on their stories recently?

My last 3 works have all hit their usual ratings (all were 'hot') and got plenty of favourites and follows, but barely any feedback.

I may just be washed in which case fair enough, but interested to see if anyone else has noticed something similar.

Compared to, say, a couple of years ago, I'd say that there are fewer comments as well. My theory is that that's because there are more stories being published, which leads to stories losing their prime time sooner, but also because readers can't appreciate something that's offered in such abundance. It's only gonna get worse.

I'm getting about the same, if not slightly more.

I VERY seldom get very many comments. My three highest-rated stories have 11, 8, and 17 total. My most-commented story only has 44, and the vast majority of my stories have a dozen or fewer.

I don't post in LW, which I suppose is one reason for those numbers, and I seldom post my own replies (which also keeps the count low). Bot comments also don't appear to happen to me all that often.

Just the few times I've looked for new stories in the stories hub under categories I enjoy, I've found comments that aren't updated regularly for 2-3 days now; before it was every 6-12 hours. It's really easy to scribble the last date and see when the update happens and subtract. You don't see that IF you only check the main story feedback hub, since that consolidates all comments from all categories, though.

I can't say that I'm getting less than usual. In my experience, comments come when you make the reader feel something. Either anger or empathy. So classically my cheating and romantic stories get the most. A sexy story isn't enough to get someone to spare their time commenting.

It's hard to say, because I haven't published anything new in a while, and because for the entire time that I have been publishing I've never received a lot of comments as a percentage of views. Comments, in my experience, are few and far between. I haven't noticed a particular trend one way or another.

I think it's to do with:
1. Fewer stories showing in the new section on the category hub
2.number of comments not showing on the category hub (which was always a little nudge to readers)
3.latest comments not showing on the new category hubs - I always thought they encouraged readers to comment
4.the alignment of the planets

If you're last three works are Episodes/Chapters/Parts to an ongoing series, the drop off is super normal and to be expected. My first 'Episode' got like 150 ratings and a 10 comments. My newest 'Episode' only got about 20 ratings and 2 comments.

It's hard to type comments with mittens on...🄶

Could be that commenters whose comments don't post instantly, which obviously includes all true anonymous commenters and a number of registered users, find it unmotivating to have to wait for such a long time before their comments appear. It further reduces the already poor interaction on the website.

I think it's not just one reason, though, but the cumulative effect of all the changes Literotica went through in the last couple of years.
