Okay, I'm probably wasting my time, and this probably isn't the right place to ask, but what the hell...

I'm just finishing up on a mother-son memoir I've written. It's ten chapters long, and told from the mom's perspective. Whilst I'm obviously going to submit the story anyway, I think it would be cool if I could get it down in audio as well. So, if there are any women who sound 35-55 and have the required recording equipment, please let me know. Thanks.

Ten chapters?

I hope you're planning on offering some sort of compensation.

That would take a great deal of time to record.

10 Chapters, but how many words? What does someone 35-55 sound like? I (33) sound just like my mother (54), my aunt (50), and my grandmother (70+).

Will you send the story and let the woman decide? Or do you want a decision before you send it?

Are you going to post the story as a whole, or in chapters? Will the audio need to be continuous? Or chapter by chapter files?

It's really eight chapters with a prologue and monologue. Aside from the beginning, which has some build up, the remaining chapters are quite short. They are essentially stand-alone episodes in the mother and son's relationship. I haven't done a word count yet, but I'd say that they were about one page on a typical paperback book. I'd like to post two chapters a week.

I would definately let the woman take a look first to make up her mind. She's also welcome to make text and dialogue changes in order to suit both her personality, and the natural rhythm of her voice.

Speaking of voice...I know the age question is a little strange, but what I'm really trying to say is that she needs to have a certain mature, generic, confident, and experienced quality to her voice. Somehow I don't think someone who sounds like Janis Joplin, Fran Drescher, or Betty Boop is quite going to cut it.

I wish I did have something to offer. Unfortunately, I don't. All I can do is ask - and that's what I'm doing. The one thing I can say is that the audio contributer will be recognized for their effort and hopefully praised for something they didn't have to take the trouble to write.

Ten chapters does sound like a lot, I know. However, they are quite short, and any recording that is done wouldn't have to be intense. A chapter a week would work out as maybe 150-300 words worth of recording. Anyhow, the lady is willing to set whatever time-frame she wants, for her own convenience.
