I was reading about the FDA hearings on the Female Vigara drug Addyi. With all of the controversy around consent today I was wondering if these questions were brought up during the hearings.

1) A woman is not interesting in sex, she takes the drug and is now interested in sex. Is a chemically induced consent true consent?

2) A husband pressures his wife to take Addyi so she reluctantly takes it. Is that consent?

3) A wife is not interested in sex but her husband grinds the pill up and puts it in her food and now she is interested in sex. Is that consent?

4) A man is talking with a woman at a bar and they are flirting with each other. He drops the Addyi in her drink and they later go back to his place and they have sex. Was this a chemically induced consent?

Just curious on what people's thoughts are on this new drug for the treatment of sexual dysfunction in premenopausal women.

Interesting questions, but whether or not it comes from a husband/partner or stranger I would say that without the consent to take the pills freely given, then it should come under the same rules/heading as gbh and other date rape drugs. The only problem would be proving your drink or food was spiked.

Personally my wife wants this drug very badly. She is aware of her issues surrounding her labido and I have to agree with her, that this drug and others like it have been too long in arriving. sexual dysfunction in women is incredibly damaging in s relationship and there has not been enough done to solve or reduce it.

From a husbands point of view, no matter how supportive or patient you are it hurts to see the person you love fall deeper into what can quickly become an endless circle of guilt and depression. But at the end of the day no one should ever be forced into something they don't want, and any self respecting husband, no matter how badly they want it, won't push someone suffering from this horrible and much understated condition.

This shows that you misunderstand how this drug works. A woman has to be taking the pill for weeks before there is any affect on her libido.

You are right, I have not studied the drug nor how it is taken, it was just questions that came to mind is all. I have no problem with it being on the market and I know that many women heavily lobbied for it to be approved. There are also other women's groups that are strongly against it. Just trying to find peoples opinions about it.

I have said it a zillion times to several of my friends. Sex isn't that fuckin complicated. Guys are NOT into passion (at least not married dudes) and pretty much just want to get off and go raid the fridge. So what's the big deal? If any woman on here wants to debate me let's have at it. I have given guys what they want more than once when I would honestly rather just be soaking in my tub or curled up in my loveseat. You are not in the mood? Get over it. How long does the average guy take to cum anyway? You make him feel sexy and nibble around for a few minutes and just like that, it's over - he's downstairs making a sandwhich and you're in the tub. Plus he goes to bed happy and you aren't the bitch that never takes care of him.

Unfortunately a lot of women would disagree. If they aren't interested then nothing is happening. I like your way of thinking though.
