I know a lot of women in the military, and as a result, have listened to a lot of bitching about patriarchy. Interestingly, this OP made me think of a friend of mine bitching about army bras. For some reason, unlike the rest of her uniform, the bra is not fireproof. I thought this might be because the jacket was fireproof, but she's convinced it's some anti-woman bullshit. She's a sniper, if it matters- but I don't think it does, I've never been military, but I'm assuming that everyone buys from the same Galls catalog or whatever.

Not for nothing, but I would try pinkcat- they have all kinds of used undies, so they might have some soldiers there. I dunno how easy it is to get/keep undies you've worn in combat though- that's more info then I've got.

Nobody checks after basic. Women wear what they want and it's usually plain cotton panties and sports bras. In basic we could have our own white sports bras. Not sure about men in basic. I think they could have their own white underwear but the issued stuff was brown. Yes, brown.

Everything you wear in the Marine Corps is issued, and we dyed our issued white skivvies green overseas. Now they come already colored and dress shoes are issued already shined...pussies.

I don't know about Broad Ass Marines (BAMs) but I suspect their skivvies are issued as well.

There was issued underwear but after basic it was take it or leave it. Like I said, nobody actually checked unless someone was reported for something and I had never heard of that happening. It just wasn't a concern what kind of panties someone was wearing. Bras were a little different as they needed to be sports bras and of an approved color.
I imagine for the most part men are the same way after basic. Nobody really cares what kind of underwear you have on. It's just easier to use the issued.

This. I don't remember anyone in Basic even talking about underwear in any sort of authoritative sense.

Then you go through the phase where you think stuff like lycra shorts and that overpriced UnderArmor shit is the way to go.

Then in Selection, you stop wearing underwear again. One of my fellow soldiers put it pretty clearly: "If I'm in BDU's/ACU's, I'm a fucking commando."
