Hi,

I am currently writing a romantic fantasy between two women set in the middle age, and for many years, I've often wanted to tackle the fantasy of two women conceiving a child together.

In my own experiences, most of GF's loved this fantasy as we often played on that in numerous role plays and 'heart to hearts', so I know for a fact this fantasy is felt among many women. So I was just wondering if any other authors have ever touched on this timeless fantasy, using a creative and believable scenario in making this dream a reality.

I've touched on this in two of my stories, but in this new one, I am delving into it in a far deeper sense.

Thanks for your input.

XOXO's

Sadly, "fantasy" is exactly the right word. If male sperm is not introduced into the egg to fertilise it, then the process is known as parthenogenesis and in that case only one woman is required. It is rare among humans, though common in plants and invertibrates, but with modern advances in DNA testing it would be detectable.

Incidentally, such a child would always be female.

I've read and written male/male pregnancy (mpreg is the usual story code). The pregnancy there is usually achieved by some variety of magic. You might also try the female pronouns version of the story linked in my sig - the characters are actually hermaphrodites but the parasitic pregnancy setup works just as well if a female who has gotten pregnant the regular way is implanting her egg into a surrogate female (generally of another species, unless there's 2 different varieties of female in one species).

How believable, exactly, are looking for the story to be? Magic, obviously, would be the easiest solution, and would seem more intimate in nature, but would be decidedly less than believable. A scientific solution could be believable, but would probably be colder in feeling.

It isn't merely rare amongst humans, it's not known to naturally occur in any mammal—though scientists have induced parthenogenesis in genetically modified mice. While it does occur with some frequency in other clades (including being the ordinary form of reproduction in certain species), there are obstacles to parthenogenesis in mammals due to genetic imprinting.

Actually you know I think the best way for it to happen and appear natural is to not talk about why she is pregnant when she is only sleeping with her, just merely have her become pregnant.

Seriously much of the time the best thing to do is simply not go there. Doesn't have to be a reason why this happens just that it does. ;)

There was a (purportedly) true story about something like this, many years ago. A Brazilian prostitute had unprotected sex with a male customer. She then had vagina-to-vagina contact with a female customer, or perhaps there was some fingering. At any rate, the female customer fell pregnant. Seems highly unlikely to me, but I suppose it's possible.

I honestly don't remember who got socked with child support payments.

Thank you all for the friendly input. I do appreciate it.

I understand avoiding the topic all together, but I am compelled by the women I’ve known in my life that have secretly longed for such a gift, myself included. Even in the fantasy realm, I want to ground it in a reality that is somewhat believable. I’ve pasted a sample below that hopefully explains the setup…

But the secret Mawiyah did become aware of was one of astonishing hopefulness. The vow of conceiving a child with another woman, the concept she told Aludra of the night before. For years, whispers and rumors ran amongst Mawiyah’s circle of a far away island that made impossible dreams come true. In maturing into a beautiful young woman, Mawiyah dispelled this rumor as mere legend, a malicious fable created to quench the desires of women like herself who sought to conceive a living testament to their love and sacrament. But as her curiosity and hope matured, Mawiyah initiated a trustworthy commission to discover if this island indeed existed. Secretly hiring a staff of her Kingdom’s finest explorers, she dispatched them on a two-year mission, reporting their findings to her upon their return.

A week prior to her father’s death, Mawiyah met with the explorers, back from their mission. The answer was just as myth and legend had told. The island did in fact exist and was ruled by a tribe of barbaric and savage females. This undiscovered sanctuary contained the secret of enigmatical conception two women, a ritual performed over three days of extravagant ceremony and untamed sex. By the natives’ account, the island had existed for quite a while... their story was translated below...

“We are not the first of our kind to roam this earth. Thousands of years ago, before time was recorded, our mothers embraced their inner truths and fled from the bloody hand of mankind. They were tired of war… poverty and suffering… they sought the truth in their hearts, and began their own race… their own people. So when our mothers landed on the island of Eileithyia, they colonized and befriended the natives in a peaceful way.”

“After several years, our mothers meshed with the native women there and realized there needed to be offspring to populate their island and foster their community of peace and love. The native women were strong and powerful, twice the size of the native men. Soon, the tribeswomen banished the remaining men and discovered a means for a woman to impregnate another naturally. Through ancient rituals and vehement lovemaking, the chosen mothers would submit to a three day ritual of conception with their wives… sometimes violent and primitive, this ritual concluded with a child bore from their love and devotion by their mothers.”

So that’s the setup. The native islanders know of this ancient method, so using a combination of both women’s blood, a magic concoction of tribal herbs and juices, a crude phallus is marinated in this elixir, absorbing the nectar. The natives then strap the swollen phallus to the impregnator, mounting the would be mother. Through friction, the seed is released and the process begins. Immediately following their lovemaking, the mother is tied to a cross as the natives glaze her stomach with an ancient paste. Hoisting her on the highest mountaintop, the sunlight animates the paste, and throughout three days of bathing in the sun, her egg is fertilized.

I’m skipping a lot of other details in this brief description, but I feel this is a believable fantasy that is very primitive and very sexy. I didn’t want it to be a cold and heartless process either.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Peace,

~Mimi

Rather than sending a team of explorers, it might make for a better story to have the main character or couple pursue a single specific rumor (rather than a vague cloud of them) to the island and then learn about the ritual there at first hand. Usually it's better if a character who has an emotional stake in learning something learns it in person, not as a distant report.

Mejau71,
Your most recent post gives the story idea a nice fantasy feel. It's a good take.

My initial idea was for the two women to find a scientist that wanted to clone humans, inspite of it being against international law. The women agree to allow him to clone them on one condition. Woman A carries woman B's clone and vice versa.

Very cold, and scientific-ish compared to your idea.

I think it's a beautiful idea for a story. But what about a more true-life approach?

Many lesbian couples have "conceived" in a relatively real sense by using donor sperm from a man. The conception often takes place by one woman inserting the sperm into her partner's vagina, using a syringe-life implement. This is done in private, in the bedroom, and can be a deeply moving, solemn and significant experience for the couple.

What about a story in which a lesbian couple conceive in this way, and then seal the moment and the act through passionate and joyous sex?
