Monsanto, Syngenta and Yara International to the rescue?
Bullshit.
With billions of dollars at stake, of course they want their piece of the market. Soon, nothing will be left for the real farmers, the people. Feed them GMO rice. Watch their stomaches inflate some more. What happened to small scale farming? Squash, yams, bananas, eggplants, peppers and so on.
According to the UN, feeding future populations depends upon the cultivation and support of small farmers. One would think the G8 is run by big agg money, just looking to waste water flooding some modified rice farms.
UN - Small Farmers Are Our Future
Unfortunately, the business section, along with world leaders don't really give a shit for small rural farmers, because they don't line their pockets. They just tend to feed their people healthy, nutritious foods; restore the environment and create less waste.
