Not so long ago I spent about a week researching this feeder/feedee thing (or as it is called among gay men, gainer/enablers) on the web. I find this sort of thing fascinating, but I still don't quite have a handle on it.

My opinion though, is that the feeder/feedee is in fact a D/s relationship, even though those who do it don't view it that way. it seems that at its most extreme you find forced feeding using tubes and such, with the goal being immobility.

The gay gainer relationships don't seem D/s to me, seems more like it belongs in the fetish category. Somewhere out there I found comics about a "gay gainer boy" and the character seemed highly fetishised. (if that is a word).

This is all speculation, as I've never spoken to anyone about it. Places like Dimensions used to have a BBS but they are all defunct - I did go to archive.org to read some of the comments.

You misterpreted what I said. You would have to take a browse around to see what I mean - there is a difference between "a feedee" and a "gainer." The sexual orientation is in fact irrelevant in regards to the theory. With the women, the feedee, there seems to be a relinquishing of power. With the gainers, I don't see that, folks just seem to be into it, no power exchange.
