I recently had an (anonymous, naturally) piece of feedback which I am not sure what to make of. The writer told me that I should be hung or shot, then said that he/she had read all my stories and hated all of them. What I'm wondering is, since I have five or six stories on the site, why did he/she feel the need to read all of them? I can understand if they didn't like the first story then perhaps read another to check. Now I don't know whether to be flattered that he hated them all enough to read them or not.

Welcome to the Authors' Hangout.

You have met a troll. Ignore it, and possibly delete the comment. Trolls just want to get a reaction and will leave rude comments just because they can.

Maybe he didn't wanna comment till he was certain youre a numnutz. It happens, most write crap with a few hits to make good readers wonder.

I took the liberty of peeking. As I expected, your story was in the Loving Wives category, which is infamous for being populated by furious and barely sentient knuckle-draggers. First time I posted a story there I was almost panicked by the comments.

But violent comments are par for the course in LW. Delete them or leave them--no one will think worse of you for getting that kind of comment there.

Do it the LW way or the readers will take your balls and go home.

Such is life...

Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone.

The angry comments come with the territory. I just laugh, especially when Harry from VA gets going on one of my stories. Sometimes I reply pointing out a spelling or grammar mistake in their comment, that really gets them excited :)

Welcome to Lit and the AH.

Loving Wives is a minefield. You have two or three different groups that have their own agendas and hates. Write what you want and let the chips fall where they may. If you get death threats, give laurel the site owner a PM with a link to the story and a heads up on it. Anonymous can be banned just like any registered user.

A note about JBJ aka NOIRTRASH, he is our own pet troll so take what he says with a dose of salts and two aspirin.

TxRad is the Man! He is the one you go to, and enquire about borrowing his shark-proof suit if you intend to post stories in Loving Wives, LOL.

As others here has explained, Loving Wives is a notorious category, full of strange readers who are unable to distinguish between real life and your story. They don't really go on there to read, they like best to write themselves: pages of comments, fighting with each other about what manner you should have Burn[ed] The Bitch (BTB stories) and what sl@gs and wh0res these women are.

Welcome to Authors' Hangout, where you can get gentle sweet support for your writing issues, sarcastic rude trolling remarks designed to toughen you up in the harsh world of erotic writing, cups of virtual tea, virtual vitriol and all sorts :) You can almost always find good answers to your questions, although sometimes the answer is provided in a way which makes you want to seize some cudgels and smack the respondent (resist that temptation!)

Put a link to your submissions in your signature; it acts like a little advert for your stories.

I haven't posted anything to LW, so I don't have any answers there, but welcome to the AH. :)

Ease up on LW.

Loving Wives can resemble unarmed combat but it is a category which gets many more views than most others. Also while there are a larger percentage of trolls there can also be encouraging comments.

To quote Oscar, "the only thing worse then being talked about is not being talked about."

Cheers

LOVING WIVES is for writers who pack the gear and have more hair on their asses than lipstick.

Mind you, when I say there are barely sentient knuckle-draggers in LW, I say it with great affection. What I like about them is their honesty. I can deal with their rage (last time I put a story there, the site's sweeps ended up deleting one third of the votes--maybe a few of them JBJ's).

I rarely score stories. When I do score the score is 5 stars 95% of the time. I don't do ONES, because theyre deleted. To get a TWO the story must be crap from word one, and I mean numerous real errors.Plenty of folks I hate get 5's from me.

So stick your insult up your ass.

Oh god, Oh god, Oh god... Eeewww!

Build em up, then make them cringe. That's how to really get the trolls up in arms.

I recently posted a story in LW with the express purpose of pissing off the trolls. Of course it worked. Why would I want to piss off the readers? I wanted to prove to myself what makes up the core of the cuckold psyche, and personally, I think I hit the nail on the head.

I've long believed that the readers that write the most hateful "fuck off and die" sorts of comments are readers that were extremely turned on by a story, then were pissed off over what turned them on. In my latest story I made up some cuckold characters who were pretty extreme in both their physiological makeup, and their actions.

Of course I got a couple of comments from readers who "got the joke", and I got some comments from readers that just didn't like the story, but by far most of the readers that commented had a visceral hatred of the story. I believe most of these haters had some sort of emotional response to the story that really bothered them.

One more thing. The story was 4 pages. Most readers that just didn't care for the story probably would have bailed and not left a comment.

I'll probably delete my little experiment in a few days. I will admit. It has been fun... For me anyway.

I did something similar way back when with my "Diary of a Faithful Wife." The site administration ended up deleting half the comments, including some of mine.

In LW, the CUCK people hate the BTB people and vice versa. It's like locking David Duke and Jesse Jackson together in a tiny room. My last effort there didn't belong to either camp, but I still got hatebombed.

You can't make this stuff up

After I delete my little experiment I think I might wait a while, then re-post it over in BDSM and see how it goes there. Along with my belief that cuck wannabes are actually bothered by the very sex the espouse they crave, I think that at the root of many a cuckold is the deep desire to be dominated. It will be interesting to see what the BDSM crowd thinks of my little cuck joke.

One more bit of info that some may find interesting. All of the domination, humiliation, and sex in this story was taken from posts in the Fetish and Sexuality forum under threads that dealt with cuckoldism. None of this stuff appeals to me. There's no way I could ever have made this shit up on my own.

Okay, I had to look, FantasyXY. Good satire. Terrific comments. Clearly it was misunderstood by both cuck and anticuck readers. Satire doesn't go down well there.

Generally, we allow the authors to police their own comments. Your comment boards are your domain. :D You can delete anything you wish, allow or disallow comments, even turn off anonymous commenting.

The only comments we generally remove are spam, threats of violence, and content that violates our guidelines (i.e. underage references, bestiality, etc.).

That said, if you see a comment which you feel is highly inappropriate, please do use the REPORT feature (the little gray triangle at the bottom right of the coment) to bring it to our attention and we will run a manual check as well. In the OTHER field, let us know why this comment is a problem, and if the user has other problem comments. When you report comments this way, the system will send us a direct link to the story and make it much easier for us to check.

Once you have reported the comment using the method described above, you may delete the comment from your public message board to discourage further trolling. Even though you've removed it from public viewing, we will still be able to see the comment in the database and check for related comment/voting abuses.

In summary, the best way to fight trolling is:
1) Report it if it's racist, sexist, or threatening. (via the above)
2) Delete it . (and let us take care of it from there)
3) Ignore it. Do not complain publicly or discuss it, as that will only encourage more comments of that nature.

Then, spend your time interacting with those who enjoy your work. They are the ones deserving of your time - not trolls. :rose:

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks for submitting! :rose:

Usually it's from one that is jealous of your writing. I had one constantly saying how my stories should go and my thought was, well its not how I wanted it to go so write your own damn story lol

Quite. If you want eyeballs, if you want to be actually READ by more than a few dozen geeks, post in LW or Incest. LW rants give the most proof that you've affected readers. I cherish all comments, pos or neg, because they show my words have effect. I could post something funny-ha-ha in Humor but why bother for so few views?
