I expect many -- if not all -- other writers have the same experience I have had. I have received a lot of email feedback on my stories. Most of it, fortunately, was positive.

However, I wish people who want to give feedback (i.e. criticisms, tips for improvement, etc.) would let me know which story they are critiquing.

Maybe Literotica can (oops! Maybe they do!) tell those readers who want to suggest improvements, or just praise a particular story they liked to tell us which one they have read.

Lit will relay what story the reader is sending feedback on if they do so from the page that appears after voting. It should be at the top of your e-mail. As you've noticed though, this is not always the case.

This may stem from one of two things:

My first presumption was that when you get general feedback, it is due to the reader electing to send feedback by clicking on your name on your "Author" page. The feedback stems from nothing in particular, and can be a good way to send praise or negativity concerning the author's entire work. Obviously, for feedback on a specific story (unless mentioned in the body, as you point out), it's less constructive.

Thinking about this issue further, it may also be dependent on cookies. Lit does use them, although for what purpose other than the forums I'm not sure. But it may use a cookie to carry information on the last story the reader read to the subsequent feedback they send. If cookies are disabled, then Lit would have no way of sending that information in the e-mail.

Either way, although it is a bummer, I wouldn't get too worked up about it. At least you're getting feedback!

Oh, I'm not worked up about it. It just makes me think that we all should place it in the intro to our stories that the name or something about the story should be mentioned when a reader gives us that feedback.

It's like a cool, cleansing rain to us who write, ain't it?

I know. It's really frustrating. And of course the feedback is always send anonymously so you can't even ask them which story they're talking about.
