Hi everyone,

I'll start this thread by saying that I was really quite overwhelmed by the whopping number of views (12,301) and votes (216) this story had in just two days, after being posted only yesterday (Sunday, Sept. 21); and by the comments that people have made.

Thanks to everyone so far who has read this story, and voted and/or commented. Your feedback is truly appreciated.

This story actually took two years to write. I don't usually outline stories; rather, I just take an idea and run with it and see where the story takes me. I started this story on a train in the fall of 2006 . . . but it sat unfinished until a few months ago because I couldn't figure out where to take it, and how it needed to end. In fact, it didn't even have a title until this spring.

But you know how some things just come together (pardon the pun!) eventually? Well that's what happened with this story.

Here's a humorous tidbit of how the story got its title: In my day job (which I love), I edit a monthly and a quarterly newsletter for financial advisors. And "the last death of Ron and Melanie" was a reference in a very awkwardly worded sentence about the beneficiaries of a joint last-to-die insurance policy. I happened to say to a colleague, "Now that's funny. It sounds like the title of a novel or something," and bang -- I had the title for my story.

And, after two years of not knowing where to take the story, I literally finished it in two hours on a VIA Rail train trip back to Toronto from London, Ont. I just pounded out the second half, and knew I had the story right on the money. It was one of those writing sessions in which you know you've nailed it, and you're really happy with the way the story turned out. I guess you could say it was a real . . . train of thought! (Of course it did help to be having an adrenalin rush caused by anxiety disorder . . .)

If you happen to read this story and it strikes an emotional chord with you, then I know I've accomplished what I set out to do.

Because as we all know, any story, whether it's erotic or not, needs CCR -- characters motivated by conflict and resolution.

Cheers
