I've had one or two readers of my stories, under my user name of eyelevel123, want to meet in person. In some cases we have exchange many emails...........

Any thoughts on this from other authors?

Honey....

Its never a good idea to meet with people you have met through the net unless you have really "established a relationship" with them (friends or otherwise). Yes, I have made friends (and met Mr. WOK) on line...but honestly... I have to be posting and IMing with a person for like an eon before I will even exchange phone numbers, much less meet in person.

Tread lightly...there are a lot of wackos out there.

I've met people that I've spoken with online. Every time I chat with them via the computer and phone for months beforehand...I wouldn't ever just email someone back and meet them. If you do, make sure that someone knows where you are, and follow good common sense before meeting in a dark alley to do naughty things without protection.

It isn't uncommon for readers to ask to meet authors.

However, I would say it is extremely rare that an author would agree to meet somebody in person whom they don't know well and risk putting themselves in serious danger.

I've met people from the computer in real life. Met my wife on line.I've met two or three others since then and hope to meet a few more if and when I get the money and the chance to do so. As of yet, I've NEVER met in real life because they wrote about one of my stories. I met my wife in a chat room. Met most of the others through my wife who met them in a chat room. And yes, we chatted for MONTHS before meeting. I would never meet someone until I knew a good deal about them.

No, no, no.

Don't do it.

Readers often think that you are the protagonist in all your stories (gasp - you mean you aren't???) so the entire situation is unrealistic.

I love feedback and will often exchange flirty emails and naughty ideas.

But I won't meet anyone (or cyber fuck them, or have phone sex, or blah blah blah blah blah).

Have fun! But don't take it all so seriously!

Sure I have. One of the reasons I write is to get laid ... well, actually, that's the reason men do anything. I've met people who liked my writing and corresponded with me (not on Lit but on other sites where I've posted stories), and eventually we met in person.

It doesn't seem that different to me from meeting other people you've interacted with online. I'd guess it's quite different for women, though.

P.S. MG, I though the aura of sexual tension in your hippo story was quite elegant, but obviously the subtle nuances of your narrative escaped the analphabetic cretin that send you the feedback.
