Hi everyone,

I've posted one story on chyoo before but this http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=360007 is my first story posted on literotica. This is probably more a rant about comments than a request for comments or votes! I'm not really bothered by constructive criticism and I expect the subject matter to not be to everyone's tastes but is it too much to expect people to post sensible comments?

So far there are two comments, both of which annoy me in one way or another. Firstly, a mention of potential health risks. It is fiction but is it now necessary to make disclaimers about health/adultery before every story? I thought that would be a given.

Secondly, a comment referring to another comment the poster had made on another story. This meant I had to search for the story and his comment, only to find out that had no explanation behind it either. Could he not give reasons when commenting on my story?!

Other than that, it's doing OK in the voting :)

Rant noted.

Loving Wives has the highest population density of frothing-at-the-mouth venom spitting commenters on the entire site. No matter what you write there, you're going to get hate-filled comments from someone. There are warring camps there, and each hates what the other likes. LW is the ultimate expression of "You can't please everyone," but it looks more like "You can't please anyone" when you look at it, because the detractors are far more likely to comment than the people that enjoyed the tale.

Your comments are typical of the category. They provide little to nothing in the form of constructive criticism, and show a tenuous grasp of the line between fiction and reality. To most of these commenters, everything you write is autobiographical, and thus they attack you as much as the story.

I've said this to others many times *laugh* If you can pick yourself up and keep on writing after making your first attempt in LW, then you're well on your way to developing the thick skin necessary to post your work for the public :D

mmm... not very encouraging were they? I'd just ignore them.

My first story resulted in private anonymous fb suggesting that I get the man to penetrate the woman with huge dildos and stitch up her ass and cunt and then fuck her face. so you just can't please everyone as darkniciad says.

Thanks for all the reassurance that this is typical of Loving Wives feedback. I'm actually beginning to look forward to new comments to see what depths they go to. Latest comments are:

"Husband should hang her in a tree and gut her filthy whoring ass with a very dull knife, while she is very much alive. Don't quit your day job."

and

"There's nothing one can say that would help this writer make a better attempt next time. The only solution is for him to NEVER write and post another story on this website."

so it's nice to get constructive feedback that allows me to improve as a writer!!

Oh my god, I'm so tired of the damn loving wives feedback complaints. It seem like every damn time someone post a story in that section they have to come crying about it here, no matter the fact that there is a thread about it every two days.

I'm actually liking the trolls more than the authors now. Their negative feedback is easily ignored, and can be deleted in a second, but all this whinning is ruining the whole board.

I'm sorry if these threads upset you so much but I'm sure that like me, many of the thread starters are new to the boards. Because of this we aren't aware that there are threads of this type so often.

As you say, the negative feedback can be easily ignored. Then again so can these threads but you've taken the time and effort to post in this one to whine about it.

Is it really that surprising that a writer, posting their first story on literotica, makes a post in the story feedback section of the boards about story feedback? If there is a more appropriate place then I (and I'm sure others) will be happy to have our posts moved there. Perhaps there could be a specific section set up to discuss negative feedback? Then those that are tired about reading it wouldn't feel obliged to.

Well first of all, I wouldn't have opened this thread if I knew what it was about, but I have no way to know beside wading through all of them littering the board. These threads are more of a nuisance than the trolls posting the feedback are.

Also, there is a search function. It's common courtesy when joining a new forum to make a search first to check if what you're about to post has been discussed recently.

And finally, this is the Story feedback forum, not the feedback feedback forum. I wish more people would use it for what it was intended. Negative feedback is negative feedback; it's there, it will always be there, it will rarely be rational. There is nothing to discuss and you were not trying to have a discussion, just vent your anger on us.

Now that's an idea!
Like a trauma care center. With pretty interns. And a big Red Cross emblem. But the victim may not stay there more than two days. They must then go back out to the literary lines.

great concept.

Once again I apologise for the distress this seems to have caused you.

I'm aware there is a search function and I did in fact look through a few threads about negative feedback. Most of these seemed to be aimed at stories which the posters here felt deserved criticism. I was also interested to know if my story - which obviously hadn't been discussed - deserved the criticism it received.

I'm aware this isn't the feedback feedback forum. Perhaps you could provide a link to it for me?

As for not discussing and venting anger, your original post was nothing but a complaint. You could have chosen to discuss it with me, perhaps even calmly informed me what problem you had with my thread. You chose to ignore both me and my story and instead simply whinged about these types of threads. If you have that much of a problem with them, why not contact a moderator to explain the way you feel and ask them to put it in the forum guidelines for writers posting here?

I originally posted because I was looking for reassurance that the comments made on my story were not typical. In future I will make sure that I don't make any reference to this sort of thing in case it upsets people.

Oh I did discuss it before, in many many threads, I have explained to insecure writers that their feedback was internet trolling and that no, their stories were not so bad people were actually wishing them a slow, painful, aids induced death.

The lit forums, you will soon see, are not really moderated. Some sections may have one appointed moderator, who may or may not actually be active, and he may or may not read a specific thread. I don't blame the mods, there are no admins here. The forum is understaffed, the mods have limited powers and any real changes that would need to be made to better the forum is out of their control.

But don't mind me too much, I'm not in my right mood. I can barely even stand myself, I'm snapping at everyone, and I feel like throwing things. It happens, every couple of weeks. Not the throwing of things, the bad mood.

Just to really take this thread off course

 This thread has totally got my attention... but I suppose small things amuse... well, you know.
Hope you roll out of bad mood central soon, I have recently returned from a short trip there myself... I too threw nothing... so, yay for us!

Allow me to comment, not on the quality of your writing, but on the kind of comments you received.

There are two predominant faction commenting on Loving Wives stories:

-- The "Kill the whore and wish her dead" group
and
-- The "Forgive her and lets enjoy it, wishing to be cuckolded" group.

You just received the typical kind of comments that any writer of cuckolding stories get. It doesn't even mean that your story is good or bad, those 'trolls' are interested in one thing and one thing only; voicing their opinions about the kind of women who cheats and the men who loves them.

Grow yourself a thick skin if you intend to write more stories of that kind because you'll get plenty.

Learn to live with your story choice and don't get affected by the trolls' comments.

Oh, before I forget, get yourself an editor, you're in dire need of one.

I would've thought the angry face smiley beside the title in the index listing should have given you a clue.

The Search function is bloody useless most of the time, I can't remember the last time it actually helped me find anything.

And the original poster gave clear warning in his first sentence what the thread was about. No one forced you to keep reading.

eswriter: there is no need to apologise. The rest of us totally understand your frustration and sympathise. Seems Lalah was just doing what most trolls do - venting her spleen on the unsuspecting.

It is unfortunate that many new writers here get caught with their first submission going to Loving Wives. It really should carry a warning in the submission field - something along the lines of "abandon all hope of sensible feedback all ye who enter here".

The thread title was "Feedback and comments on first lit story". I thought this would be about the author not getting any feedbacks and wanting some. Yes his second sentence did warn me but it was too late, I'd already been lured to another loving wives feedback bitching thread.

Maybe the other regulars are not as vocal about it than me, but I really doubt I'm the only one getting tired of all the repetition. And yes, every such thread has the obligatory "there should be a warning before submiting" comment.

Maybe some of us are just more charitable to new posters than others and don't mind the repetition.
There are a number of threads that repeat - the bad feedback from LW; the when will my story post; the no one is commenting/voting... there are others, no doubt.
The only one that bugs me is the Please tell me what's wrong with my story thread that is written by someone who does not want to know that at all, they just want praise.
This forum, more than any other, is going to get repeat style threads. It is where most new writers come for feedback, or to discuss the feedback they have received. If it annoys you so much, I suggest you stay away.

Hi everyone,

I've posted one story on chyoo before but this http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=360007 is my first story posted on literotica. I read your story. The problem I have is that you give no reason why Rhys (Rhys?) doesn't just introduce his wife to the clients. Why does he pretend she is a porn actress? Why does Michelle decide to fuck two strange men in front of her husband? People do some pretty messed up shit but they usually have reasons. You don’t share these reasons with the reader.

Maybe she was pissed at him for a previous affair. Maybe they had been talking about his desire to see her with another man. Or perhaps she had shared with her husband that she had a long-time fantasy about being with another man while her husband watched.

The action isn't bad and your writing is structurally sound but your plot and character development need some thought. I don’t frequent the LW cat and maybe it’s common there for characters to just spontaneously burst into fucking. Personally, I could buy it if you gave the reader some clue as to why this was happening.

It would be weak, but I could even get behind the comment at the end of the story from one of the clients, “…She’d fuck anything that moves.” If her husband had said something similar at the beginning of the story then it makes it a bit more plausible. Then I could see her as the slut she is and expect her to bang the strangers.

I think the story is fixable. An editor and some character development could make this a decent story. If you want a kinder audience, consider switching categories – maybe Group.

Happy writing and sorry about the rough welcome.

Thanks for all the feedback, it's been duly noted. There are things that I realised need improving (after I'd posted it of course!) but I now realise there are other things I can improve upon.

I may start posting in group rather than loving wives though! :)

Thanks again everyone.

At the risk of looking like a troll/ignorant newbie/whatever I have to agree with the above. Forums only ever have so many topics so stuff is going to get repeated. I'm sure the thread I started here was possibly inappropriate but unless you want the forum to only consist of long time members (fnar @ members!) then it will eventually atrophy and die.

forums need new blood (especially mine :D) to keep going or they become like the village I currently live in; interbred, warped and unintelligible to the outside world.

On a final note I am never EVER going to post in LV!
