Allright, let's see who'll come clean on this. Discuss your fears/prior fears.

My fear right now, well not really a fear but they make me nervous... is elevators. I think I watched a horror movie as a kid where a psycho killer cut the cables and the safety to the elevators, sending the people in it plunging to their death. I don't think that image has gone away for me.

What I used to fear as a kid: Fire, snakes, alligators, the dark, heights, shots, and germs.

EDIT: You know, I might still be afraid of germs, particularly the bad ones. After handling a patient that might or might have had AIDS/HIV Hepatitis, I compulsively wash my hands over, and over, and over.... and over again. All the way up to my elbows.

But you know, I think that is a pretty healthy fear. :)

I'm afraid of the water. Not so much being in the water as OTHER PEOPLE being in the water. Whenever we go to the beach/pool/lake/river I have panic attacks because I'm afraid someone is going to drown and I won't be able to save them.

Heights (over 3 feet = not good)
Roaches. I don't know why but I'm terrified of them.

Drops... Falling straight down... I can do rollercoasters, but the vertical drop ones are a no no. I also hate when there is turbulence on planes and you drop down that little bit. Not good.

I am also scared of being hurt. My ex cheating on me completely changed who I am, and I hate that. Trusting someone is hard and I am always paranoid/scared it will happen again.

My fears...

I'm fearful of never being good enough. Of trying and failing.

I'm fearful of trusting people, especially with my heart, because it's extremely fragile despite the front I put on for the rest of the world.

I'm fearful of spiders and wasps because...I don't know why. But I run from them screaming.

I'm fearful of clowns because they fucking scare the crap out of me.

I'm fearful of loosing my mind.

I am scared of flying (crashing...flying is good )

I am scared of losing something I hold very dear and missing out on something wonderful

I am scared of being left alone in the world. With no family

I am scared of making wrong choices

I am scared of doing the wrong thing.

Snow.

I have a completely irrational fear of snow.

Ohh ... stay far far away from me!!! :p

I'm scared of large dogs ... bees and wasps ...considering where I am, sooo not easy ones to deal with alot of the times :(

Being charged and convicted (and subsequently sent to prison) for doing something very serious which I not only didn't do, but had nothing to do with...have no idea where it came from or why, but it has been a fear of mine as long as I remember.

Lol...yes...i just noticed your location!:eek::)

Rats. Especially the way they can squeeze through a hole that's just 11 mm and surprise you. Places where I have once seen a rat make me nervous for years afterwards. Luckily I have never seen one where I live, so I'm quite safe, but whenever I read about ratproblems in the city I get chills and nightmares. The last one I read was about a man who woke up with a rat chewing on his eyebrows and nails :eek::eek::eek:

Seriously.

I also fear never being really loved by someone. You know, for being me.

I fear losing my mental health before my physical health............and therefore becoming an unmanageable burden to my family.

That's a biggee to someone who's independant to a large flaw of my own choosing............

Being alone in the world

Being open and honest about myself and being looked down on and critisized.

Failing

Not being good enough

Making a bad personal decision

Being a former lifeguard and Red Cross swimming instructor, I understand your fear. And being a musician, I love your sig line!:D

It's scary how many people are in prison that were just in the wrong place in the wrong time and had the right look. Thanks to DNA testing, some of those wrongs are being righted. And I'm sure there are a fair amount of crooked DAs (as well as those whose training and integrity they rely on) out there, too.

Deep, dark water. It came out of nowhere when I was a teenager.

Aliens. Specifically the little gray bug eyed ones. It's very specific in what they look like though.

Straight razors. Completely terrified, I turn my head anytime someone's throat is slit in a movie. I saw about half of Sweeney Todd as a result.

Pretty much just flying in commercial airliners and failing my relationships. Also being on enough prednisone to lose my mind like last time.

im terrified of needles, injections, and any medical procedure that involves sharp pointy objects.

ive had more panic attacks at doctors offices than i care to remember.

Spiders.

Extreme heights (going up the Eiffel Tower was a near panic attack).

Other mental neuroses that aren't anything I can do anything about, but for that fact alone really bother me.

I have a fear of loosing my parents

Am deathly afraid of lightening.

Same, though I know where mine came from. The first major impetus was Jaws. "There are goddamned fish in that water that can eat me? Fuck you, no. Not going in." And the nail in the coffin was a TV special on the Titanic. So I drop my fear of sharks (perfectly frikken reasonable fear) and fear of being on a sinking ship (also perfectly reasonable) into a generic, but less reasonable sounding fear of deep, dark water.

I'm also afraid of my loved ones dying when I am not around. Mostly because of car accident. Probably makes sense given my line of work, and how many wrecked cars I see on a weekly basis...

I have never been able to understand why people would discuss their deepest darkest fears on a public forum, so I'll go with the less deep and less dark fears.

1. Bridges. Especially ones that turn, cause they tip and that FREAKS ME OUT. I didn't even used to be able to drive over them, but I've gotten to where I can if I keep my eyes DIRECTLY in front of me.

2. The dark. This is partly because I'm nightblind and tend to hurt myself in the dark. I'm also afraid of windows after dark. Avoid them like the plague.

3. Heights (which feeds the bridge fear). I get vertigo standing on chairs.

4. The sound of the toilet flushing after bed time. I have no idea why. FREAKS. ME. OUT.

5. Taking a shower after dark. I know why on this one, though. When I was little somone was watching a movie where a lady got stuck in a shower (the kind where the doors close) and it filled up with water and drowned her.

6. Closets after dark. This is cause I saw the movie House and all its sequels at . . . 6? My neighbors let me, and my mom was PISSED.

7. Cars after dark. I'm always afraid SOMETHING (like a critter) is under them. Or in the back seat or wherever.

One of my biggest fears is being blamed for something that I did not do. Stories about people sent to prison for crimes they didn't commit and stuff like that scares the hell out of me on a very deep level. Even on a less severe degree, I get very defensive very quickly when someone implies I said/did/felt something that I didn't. This works against me as it makes me SEEM guilty, but I just can't help it, that fear is so deep and it really upsets me to be blamed for things.

Another fear of mine is anger. I really hate making people angry with me. I will go to extreme lengths to avoid it at times, usually making a problem WORSE.

Loosing my eyesight even more than I already have. My eyes are my ears as well and the thought of injuring them in some way is terrifying.

Recently I've become very paranoid about my beloveds dying. I have not experienced much death and as I get older and thus, my family gets older, I know it's coming and it TERRIFIES me. I don't think I can handle loosing the people I am so close to. I can't imagine how people survive it.
