20 VW Beetle sized chunks traveling so fast they could smash through a block of concrete 6 feet thick. But But the chief of Mission Control, Vladimir Solovyov, put the chances ``that everything will be all right at 98-99 percent.''

so if 50 of these things came down the odds are one would hit land? Thanks a lot, Vladimir.

With my luck I will be in that one to two percent...probably come down right on my house without touching any other part of the neighborhood.

*Sighs and goes to find a good life insurance company*

Well, I still think that the odds are safer that I won't be hit by a piece of MIR than the odds that I face every day driving on the Atlanta freeways....

It's going to be pretty amazing if you see one of those things land, like a fireball in the sky. I hope some news crew gets some footage. When are they supposed to fall?

I saw the Meteor Crater in Arizona a couple of week ago. It was pretty cool.
