For me, it's Autumn. Right now it's just amazing. <brown leaf smiley>

can I vote for Autumn *and* Spring? I just love the turning seasons...

I can't pick.

I love them all.

However, my favorite places to epitomize each season:

Fall in the Berkshires, MA

Winter in Northern California, Mendocino.

Spring in Tuolomne Meadows, Yosemite National Park, CA

Summer by Crescent Lake in the Pennsylvania Catskills

Spring for me, when an old man's thoughts turn to love.

Or a reasonable facsimile thereof. ;)

I picked spring but in all honestly I love things about all the seasons. Ok well I'm not that thrilled about winter in england. But you put me in a winter where there is snow to play in and I am a completely different person. Summer means swimming, hiking camping with all the wonderful memories. Fall has leaf fights and the walks in the woods, the crisp air that says winter will soon be there. And of course the blooming of spring in all its wonder. Nature at its best all year long. :cathappy:

I love Fall too. I love the air cooling and how the leaves appear to be glowing orange and yellow and red on grey days. I love the slant of the sun and that golden light. "Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness..." Where did I get that? I also love the anticipation for the holidays that I start to feel in October.

ETA: Found it...

Ode to Autumn

SEASON of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells.

Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?
Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;
Or on a half-reap’d furrow sound asleep,
Drows’d with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers:
And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
Steady thy laden head across a brook;
Or by a cyder-press, with patient look,
Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.

Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,—
While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,
And touch the stubble plains with rosy hue;
Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
Among the river sallows, borne aloft
Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;
Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
The red-breast whistles from a garden-croft;
And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.

Fall is nice. I like watching Spring from indoors. But I can sneeze year round these days.

I used to be able to say unequivacally that I loved Autumn. But then I started to like summer, and then spring. I have no idea which season is my favorite anymore. All that I know is that I enjoy the way they change every year, and how I get to experience all of them so thoroughly.

I love the turning of the seasons and I prefer Fall the most, with the colors of the leaves and the smell in the air.

Not a big fan of raking, except to make some piles the kids can jump in.

I love them all in their own way.
Up until today I was loving Autumn, then the gales blew, and the rain fell......and fell......and fell....

I love winter when it's cold, crisp, dry and brilliantly sunny.
I love autumn when it's cold enough to go walking in a thick, cuddly sweater, but not cold enough to need a coat.
I love summer.....when I'm in the shade and near water.
I love spring when its already light when I wake up, and doesn't get dark until after I've had supper.

They are all beautiful, in their own way.

So far I'm the only one who chose winter. Must be cuz I'm Russian. I like spring and summer for the obvious reasons, but autumn is too much of in 'in between' time. Colored leaves? Big deal.

I vote Spring - heralds the beginning of warmer weather, the feeling returns to my toes and I'm not frying my eyeballs just yet!

I voted winter :) I miss the cold and the snow and skiing and ice skating and walking down the street and having the inside of your nose freeze.

Okay, I am a northerner transplanted to the south. In 20 years I have not gotten used to it. My neighbors see me at the school bus stop in the mornings and tease me cause i only wear a coat in February and already their kids are wearing sweatshirts to school and we are still having 80 deg days.

Southern Virginia is hot for at least 11 months of the year. I do however like to swim at the beach in November, so maybe fall is really my time. :heart:

I love winter. I'm a cold weather person, and I absolutely DESPISE summer.

If I'd posted this poll in February there'd no doubt be a few votes for summer by now.

My favorite is winter because I love snow.

This is a source of tension with the wife. I am sort of hanging on to the Northeast, mainly because the house is too full of junk to move out. But she is slowly cleaning it out.

I love the Summer.

I enjoy the other seasons as well--especially Autumn.

But the sun's warmth and the beach--Woohoo!

Which, coincidentally enough, is why I live in Florida. ;)

I chose autumn because it's fantastic.
It's not miserably hot, but you don't freeze to death either.
The air smells so good.. crisp, fresh, earthy.
I love the sound of leaves crunching under my feet. Then the way it smells once they're crushed. :)
I love especially the gray, overcast days. A lot of people says it depresses them, but they're my favorite. I'd love nothing more than to curl up somewhere near a window, read a book, drink hot apple cider and watch the clouds go by.

Oooohhh, I can't wait til this damn 90 degree heat goes away!

Spring is all right, just a little moist, lol.
Summer is okay, but I do hate humidity.
Winter is pretty good, as long as it snows. I hate nothing more than for it to be zero degrees outside without a flake in sight. Oh- I lied. I hate when it's sunny. Because ya get all bundled up since it's freezing out, but then you get in the car, or start walking, and the sun beats down on ya and it makes me miserable too! lol. :)
Winter should be dreary and overcast also. I've decided. :)

Spring?? You picked Spring?

gawd. Spring it's like mud and dogshit. Spring lasts maybe three weeks. Phooey.

Autumn, anywhere but here.

Here in Miami, it has to be winter. Which is like autumn in the real world.

Another vote for autumn here. Love the colorful leaves, the cooling temperatures -- plus it's the start of the NFL season and final race for the pennant and the World Series in baseball :D

Exactly. A woman of taste! (I knew that you were, as soon as you expressed a positive opinion of me.) Autumn. We have one that goes almost four months, here. It passes through phases, each exquisite in its own way. Mark Twain describes it. Matchless.

goddamn it, I read this thread as "Favorite seamen" and I thought Joe had just mispelled it! :eek:

I like Summer. I like all the promises, the big skies, the warmth-- even the heat. I like the bugs-- fireflies, cicadas, carpenter bees. "Crickets and bullfrogs and whispers of thunder" to quote the poet. Even though thunderstorms in the summer are rare as diamonds, here in SoCal.

I like Spring, in the midwest. There's one day, when you suddenly feel the unrelenting cold-- relent. Here in Cali, we often have long rains, like Dampy's Monsoons, only not warm like that, sadly.

I like Autumn, anywhere. This year, I was especially happy to see Autumn. We've had very hot weather, and at last I can breath again! I like how the afternoons last-- the sun takes so long to slide down the sky.

I like Winter. I like it better in theory than in reality-- but i do like it. ;)
