Lao-Tzu

"Knowing others is intelligence, knowing yourself is true wisdom.
Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power"

"I loved you ever, but it is no matter ..let Hercules himself do what he may, the cat will mew, and dog will have his day"
*Hamlet

The first one is truly how I fell in love with football and women. Can't really find a better way to express it. I read the second one as a teenager, but it has grown on me more and more as I wandered across cities and continents, feeling lost many times.

I fell in love with football as I was later to fall in love with women: suddenly, inexplicably, uncritically, giving no thought to the pain or disruption it would bring with it.
Nick Hornby - Fever Pitch

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
