What music is in your CD/tape/8-track/MP3 player right now?

Right now I'm listening to some QTip that I downloaded off Napster (that's www.napster.com - the best site on the Internet, btw). He's got an Easy-E quality to his voice that is cool, and the music jams... how about you kids?

LMAO...8-track...Last time I saw an 8-track was 1987. Buddy of mine bought a 1972 Plymouth Satellite (it was orange, btw) and it still had the factory 8-track in it. The previous owner gave him the only 8-track he had..AC-DC's "Highway to Hell". We listened to it for 2 weeks straight till he bought a cassette deck with his next pay.

Check this out...I'm gonna say something that's on topic!!

I just reloaded the CD changer with The Gathering Field "Reliance", Phantom of the Opera (both discs), Guns N Roses "Use Your Illusion I", and The Clarks, "Someday Maybe".

Metallica S&M is blasting in my office right now. Perfect to be shaken proberly awake by.
Will proberly change to something more pop later on.
Right now I just need my dosis of caffein. And Rock

(AC/DC Australian) Just thought I would get that in.

I love Pantera, Ozzy Osborne, Meatloaf (mmmmmmmmmm) Old Metallica, Old Guns n Roses,Judas Priest the list could go on all day. I listen to music more than I do anything else. I can't seem to get enough.

I have a dozen or so CD's in the stacker now:
Rob Zombie's Hellbilly Deluze
Ozzy Osbourne The Ozzman Cometh
Powerman5000 Tonight the Stars Revolt
AC/DC Live (Both disks)
Kiss Alive (Both Disks)
Aerosmith Nine Lives
Heavy Metal Movie soundtrack
and several others....

Just another Heavy Metal Morning for me

Arkane! YOur the man! I have the HEavy Metal sound track too!

Jesus! WHy do I suddenly feel like I'm too old to be in this place! Last time I listened to any Heavy Metal was in 1992 when I was fourteen! I thought people grew out of that sort of thing - but all credit to you all - keep on rockin'!!
As previously mentioned, I'm pretty obsessed with Moby at the moment, oh and Stereophonics, Underworld, Morcheeba and of course my all time favorites PIXIES.

"this monkey's gone to heaven... tralalala..."

In my tape player right now is Crystal Gayle's 'Miss The Mississippi'

It's been there for some time, because the radio is tuned to KNPR and there's classical music in the background almost all the time.

I was thinking the same thing Flagg, well except I was 19 in 1992, but I think we all find this "niche" and we cling to it. I'm partial to 80's music, and I catch hell for it almost daily. But, it makes me feel young again. It allows me to escape to the good ole days, and reflect upon where I was and how much I've accomplished. I think it's great that people on here are still listening to "my music" it doesn't make me feel so old or so "out of it".

On that note, I need a nap, my age is catching up with me...or is it that little 5 year old demon running around the house running me ragged? Who knows...

Forgot to answer the original question...see???
I usually listen to nothing, unless you consider Nickelodeon music (And I'm oh so tired of that "Another Dumb Blonde" song I could scream...) some of you know what I'm talking about, surely.

The Pixies! Oh GOD what a f**kin awesome band... I remember the first time I heard "Monkey Gone to Heaven"... I've seen em live 3 times, including on one tour where they opened for U2 (they were awful at that show - they flew through the songs, and Kim Deal seemed all pissed off. the beginning of the end, maybe?)

Rock-wise right now, I like Tool and that's about it. I like some hardcore bands like Quicksand, but mostly I listen to electronica and hip-hop. Manu and I spent some time in the record industry, and right now I'm burnt on punk and alternative.

Sammyjo girl boy do I know what you mean!!!!!!!!!!!

Nickelodeon is the major music I hear in my day too, When my little one goes to Kindergarten I pull out all my Metal CD's and basically go wild, I'm starting to think the neighbors hate me.

My son is four and I swear when it comes to music all he knows is Metal, God help him when he goes to school and people start to ask what music he listens to. I would like to be there to hear his explination.

Well, I was just listening to DMX and Notorious BIG, but my taste is really diverse. Anything from Garth Brooks, Sara Mcglaughlin to Dr. Dre. I just got the new Santana CD and it is awesome! I love that song Maria Maria. That CD is a must buy.

Well the Blues is my thing at the moment, whats playing...some Keb Mo, Mighty Mo Rodgers and of course BB King. Then some Prodigy, Alabama 3(Sopranos theme) and Doors to get me rocking. Smoking dope to the song The End is the ultimate!!

Hey Nicole in responce to your AC/DC comment Here is two questions for you "Why is it that you can go out and buy two to three AC/DC albums and get multiple copies of the same song in it? Is it just an Australian thing or just them?"

Any way I listen to anything from God Smack to Rush to Dan Fogleberg to Mozart. Depending on the mood I'm in.

Oh yea I almost forgot The sound track to "Orgasmo" "You're a Man" Rules.

Laurel,
I never did get around to thanking you and Manu for turning me on to Napster. It rules!

Right now, I'm into Beth Hart and Aimee Mann. Like most 40 somethings, I have wide ranging tastes in music. Billy Joel, Billy Idol, Santana, 4 Non Blondes, Clash, Alison Krauss and Annie Lennox. I love the Cowboy Junkies and Joan Osborne. All of these and more are in my MP3 library and playing when ever I'm in front of my square headed lover.

The Five discs in my changer are Beastie Boys: Paul's Boutique, Save Ferris: It means everything, Marylin Manson: Mechanical Animals, Chemical Brothers: Brothers gonna work it out, and the soundtrack to Rushmore.

...What?

No, really, what is it?

Oh yeah, that's right--Fuck all of you.

I love Save Ferris. I'm too stupid to figure out that ska died 5 years ago.

I guess I am still odd man out ... listnin' to basic ol' classics ... Theme by Paginini ... Later the basics for the theme song for "Somewhere in Time". hmmmmmmm....
wink.gif

Gary1, I was beginning to despair. In my player right now is Sarah Brightman's Eden. I love classical and even opera. Paganini's theme was beautifully haunting, and I have the soundtrack to Somewhere in Time.

Stop laughing the rest of you! Yeah, I'm a music nerd! I like showtunes too. My Fair Lady, Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma, Camelot, and Phantom, etc.

A majority of the time, though I must suffer through kid's songs like "I'm My Own Grandpa" and "The Pokemon Theme Song." Really, it's not as bad as it used to be. I used to know all the words to every song Barney ever sang. ("I love YOU, YOU love ME! We're a hap-py fa-mi-ly...!")

i've been listening to some of my fav records all day. all of you probably won't have a clue as to who any of these bands are but here i go anyway:

In My Eyes "nothing to hide" lp
Gorilla Biscuits "start today" lp
Kid Dynamite "shorter, faster, louder" lp
Quicksand "slip" lp
Sick Of It All "built to last" & "call to arms" lp's

hell yeah

positiveoutlook - you straight-edge? I mean, the NYC hardcore, your name... just a guess...
smile.gif

I dig Quicksand - saw them 6 years ago here in S.D., playing with Helmet in a shitty all ages club - have been getting into the Refused lately (yeah, I know - a year too late, haha). I used to listen to a lot more punk & hc stuff, but lately I've found myself liking hip hop, trip hop, and electronica stuff more and more - Qtip, MDX, Tricky, LTJ Bukem, Fugees & all their side projects... Dunno why... I'm getting old, maybe?
smile.gif

I have nothing playing right now, but I can tell you that I can listen to anything! I'm telling you, I have albums like Bon Jovi, the Backstreet Boys, Bryan Adams, Louis Armstrong, Coolio, Tupac, Beethoven, the Matrix-soundtrack... There's just about nothing that won't go for me!

Well, Björk is one thing that I almost vomit when I hear... =/

I have such an urge lately to hear "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". Do you ever get that? A sudden urge to flip on some oldies station and hear a song you used to love? You know, like suddenly you just need to hear "When I was Seventeen" or "Boehmian Rhapsody" or something completely out of left field like that?

Yeah,Ii feel your pain, DCL... The other day I had an uncontrollable need to hear (get this) Spandau Ballet's "This Much is True"... And I never liked the song to begin with!
