Favorite Italian Food

While in Chicago last week on business, I had the pleasure of one of the finest meals that I have ever had. It was a 4 course, pre-ordered dinner.

Each course and dish was better then the last. My favorite Italian food is:
Linguini with White Clam sauce, with extra garlic
 
Canneloni (sp? hell I don't have to spell it I just have to eat it), is pretty good as far as I'm concerned, also Lasagna, those would be my two favorites.
 
Amending that, add any Italian food I could lick off of lobito's av.
 
Artichoke Lasagna...that my friend makes. Yummy. Other than that, I am not a big fan of Italian food. You can give me Mexican food any day instead.
 
I worked in two fine Italian places

I love homemade fettucini. My daughter's favorite is fettucini with grilled chicken breast with gorgonzola and cream sauce with portabella mushrooms and tarragon.

I make a helluva pesto. I love polenta, bruscetta, fontina and asiago cheese.

For my sister's 30th birthday party I cooked to order a five course meal for her and seven of her girlfriends. We started with grilled portabellas with balsamic vinegar, red, yellow peppers served with polenta topped with fontina and crushed red pepper.

Next was white fish sauteed in white wine and olive oil tossed with linguini and lemon and artichoke.

The forementioned fettucini entree followed by a mixed green salad tossed with a cranberry vinegarette, pinenuts, dried cherries.

Of course there was champagne, a good chardonay and hearty red. The grape variety escapes me. I no longer drink.

Penne pasta with a white cream sauce.

I am not a big fan of red sauces * yucky*

So I usually go for any thing in a wine sauce or white sauce. :)

Ahhhhhh my fave Italian dishes!

Shrimp Fra Diaviolo over penne pasta....
Gnocchi with marinara sauce....
Chicken Domani (chicken and sage over pasta twists...
available at Bertucci's!)
spaghetti with marinara sauce......
chicken parmagiana (sp?) with spaghetti
PIZZA!! fave toppings include: pepperoni, pesto w/
sundried tomatoes, onions, garlic, broccoli, white clam
(New Haven, CT hails the best white clam pizza!!)......

dessert-wise......gotta have a tortoni...or tartufo....
yummmmmy!

And don't forget the red wine...for me preferably
Merlot, but sometimes a Chianti ;)

but at the moment, if it were to be dinner with one person in particular, i would easily call spagetti o's my favorite. the food makes the meal, and for a little over a month, everything i've eaten has lacked taste. my sense of taste... another thing i'm lacking b/c of her.






but fettucini alfredo with grilled, boneless chicken breast is what i'll go with.
 
I must be easy...


I love ziti, with a nice meaty sauce, and melted mozzerella over it.

Spaghetti, an all time fav.

Fettucini Alfredo with Chicken, and warm mozz melted on top.


Add to them, warm garlic bread, cheese bread, or breadsticks, and i am in heaven.

I've got so many favorites that it's hard to choose. Picking one, I'd have to say the angry angel hair pomodoro I had at a restaurant when I was away. It's got hot italian sausage, red pepper, and habanero peppers in it. They roast a habanero and put it on top...mmm. My mouth is watering at the thought of it!
