I've been asked to name three of my favorite songs from the early 1990s. What are yours? I'm totally going to copy off you.

fabulous thunderbirds, "tuff enuff"
Excellent song, but unfortunately a bit early. "Tuff Enuff is a 1986 studio album by Texas-based Blues Rock and Rockabilly band The Fabulous Thunderbirds which pointed the band in a more mainstream direction. The single, "Tuff Enuff" was featured in the films Gung Ho, Tough Guys, as was the follow-up single "Wrap It Up"."

A lot of crap made it big in the early 1990's.

For example,
"U Can't Touch This" 1990
"Losing My Religion" 1991
"Smells Like Teen Spirit" 1991
"Baby Got Back" 1992
"Runaway Train" 1992
"I Will Always Love You" 1992
"Tears In Heaven" 1992
"Man On the Moon" 1992
"Whoomp! (There It Is)" 1993
"I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" 1993
"Macarena" 1994

living in america james brown
Rosco! Now you're just being contumacious. "Living in America" is a 1985 song composed by Dan Hartman and Charlie Midnight, and performed by James Brown. It was released as a single in 1985 and reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" 1991
I did not know Teen Spirit was a deodorant until the mid-2000s. I remember wondering what on earth teen spirit smelled like. A mix of Noxema, beer coolers, and hormones.
"I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" 1993
Just reading this one gave me an ear worm.

My meter seems to be miscalibrated by five years to the past.

Burning Flames Congo Man

Hallah, Mazzy Star
Touch Me I'm Sick, Mudhoney
Fuck and Run, Liz Phair
It's A Fast Driving Rave-Up, Dandy Warhols
Redhead Walking, Beat Happening

Echos Myron, Guided by Voices
There You Are, Flaming Lips
I Got A Broken Face, Pixies

As demonstrated by the offerings in this thread, I was officially out of it / uncool in the early 1990s; I haven't heard half of these before. Appetite for Destruction was my first tape; but I preferred my ABBA album; except when Dr. Demento played on the radio. Dead Puppies and Freakers Ball were my favorite songs.

my first tape was licensed to ill. my parents "lost" it for me after about six months. that was fun.
