As I was listening to the radio yesterday, I started to think about what Christmas tunes I'm looking forward to hear. "White Christmas - Bing Crosby" is definately on the top of my list

And I have to admit that I used to like Wham's "Last Christmas", but not anymore, I finally got fed up with that one.

I like 'The First Noel' and 'Angel We Have Heard On High'.

Other than that when Christmas music comes on the radio I switch channels.

Little Drummer Boy by David Bowie and Bing Crosby!

I think I love it all. I have been playing it all week on launch radio on Yahoo. I am most partial to the traditional stuff like Silent Night, Winter Wonderland and White Christmas.

My favorite is Adam Sandler's Hanukkah song, I mean this is a non-denominational board isn't it?

If you want a good laugh, the song can be found all over the web, I have posted the words, but only he does it justice!

Click here, and then select Hanukkah1

"ok ok this is a song that uh, theres a lot of Christmas songs out there
and uh not to many Hanukah songs so uh i wrote a song for all those
nice little Jewish kids who don't get to hear any Hanukah songs."

Put on your yamakah,
here comes Hanukah,
so much funnukah to celebrate Hanukah,
Hanukah is,
the feastival of lights,
instead of one day of presents we have eight crazy nights!

When you feel like the only kid in town,
without a Christmas tree,
Here's a list of people who are Jewish,
just like you and me!

David Lee Roth,
lights the Menorah,
so do James Konkirk Dougalas and the late Diana Shora,
Geuss who eats together at the Carnagi Deli,
Bowser from Shanana and Arthur Fonza Relli!

Pualoman half jewish,
Goldi Hans too,
put them together what a FINE lookin jew!

You don't need Deck the Halls or The Jingle Bell Rock,
cause you can spin a dradle with Captian Kirk and Mr. Spock!
(both jewish!)

Put on you yarmakah,
its time for Hannukah,
the owners of the Seattle supersonikahs,
celebrate Hanukah!

OJ Simpson,
NOT A JEW!,
but geuss who is?,
Hall o' famer Rod Karou!

We got Ann Landers and her sister Dear Abby,
Harrison Fords a quater Jewish!,
NOT TO SHABBY!

Some people think,
Ebaniser Scrooge is,
well he's not but geuss who is?,
all three Stooges!!!

So many Jews are rich o' biz,
Tom Cruise isn't,
but I heard his agent is!

Tell your friend Veronica,
its time to celebrate Hanukah!,
O don't forget a harmonica,
on this lovely lovely Hanukah!
So drink your gin and tonicah,
and smoke your marajuanica!
if you really really wannukah,
have a happy happy happy,
HANUKAH!

The Hanakuh song reminds me (mostly cause it's so irreverant) of another favorite song. It's by Tom Lehr and the beginning goes:

Christmas time is here by gollly
Tis the season to be jolly
Deck the halls with HUNKS of holly
Fill the cups and don't say when

Kill the turkeys, ducks, and chickens
Pour the punch, drag out the Dickens
Even though the propect sickens
Brother here we go again.

I've said it before but what the hell I'll say it again, my favorite is:

Back Door Santa

They call me the back door Santa
I make my runs about the break of day
They call me the back door Santa
I make my runs about the break of day
I make all the little girls happy, while the boys are out to play
I ain't like the old saint nick, he don't come but once a year
I ain't like the old saint nick, he don't come but once a year
I come runnin with my presents, every time they call me dear
I keep some change in my pocket
I chase the children home
I give them a few pennies so we could be alone
I leave the back door open so if anybody smells the mouse
and wouldn't old Santa be in trouble
If there ain't no chimney in the house
They call me the back door Santa
I make my runs about the break of day
I make all the little girls happy, while all the boys are out to play
They call me back door Santa
Yeah that's what they call me
They call me the back door Santa
Yeah that's what they call me

(I have this on CD but I'm not getting out of bed for another 51 minutes to go look at who does it.)

I also love BeBe and CeCe Winans
Singing more traditional songs they are incredible.

Generally I prefer jazz, blues or soul Christmas songs but oh Ava Maria is always incredible and Silent Night. Also my Mom made up a whole album of Christmas songs that I enjoy a great deal though very few know of it.

Notes: Includes liner notes by Jimmy Guterman.

It can't get much classier than toasting the holidays with soul music. The elegant sleigh bells and brass arrangements compliment each other almost as perfectly as presents and loved ones.

Bring SOUL CHRISTMAS to your holiday gatherings, and you'll be sure to please. Booker T & The MGs' jumping versions of favorites like "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" and "Jingle Bells" bring back the childlike joy of the holiday season. To hear Otis Redding and Ray Charles wrap themselves around "White Christmas" and "Christmas Time" makes it only better.

SOUL CHRISTMAS is the hippest, most soulful Christmas album on the market. These timeless soul renditions of holiday classics will please even after the last snowfall.

Review: Melody Maker (12/9/95, p.33) - "That no style of music could conceivably be less Christmassy than the raw, smoky blast of Stax soul appeared not trouble the chaps in Memphis unduly....Clarence Carter's `Back Door Santa' remains the dirtiest and thus the greatest seasonal song..."

And this CD:

Please come home for christmas
Charles Brown

Bells will be ringing the sad, sad news
Oh what a christmas to have the blues
My baby’s gone I have no friends
To wish me greetings once again

Choirs will be singing silent night
Christmas carols by candlelight
Please come home for christmas,
Please come home for christmas
If not for christmas, by new year’s night

Friends and relations send salutations
Sure as the stars shine above
For this is christmas, yes, christmas my dear
It’s the time of year to be with the one you love

So won’t you tell me you’ll never more roam
Christmas and new year’s will find you home
There’ll be no more sorrow, no grief and pain
And I’ll be happy, I’ll be happy, once again

There’ll be no more sorrow, no grief and pain
And I’ll be happy, happy christmas, once again

Merry Christmas Baby B.B. King

Merry Christmas baby
Babe you sure did treat me nice
Yeah! Merry Merry Merry Christmas baby
Babe you sure did treat me nice
Gave me a diamond ring for Christmas
And now I'm living in paradise

Oh! I'm feeling mighty fine this morning
I've got good music on my radio
Hey baby, I'm feeling mighty fine
I've got good music on my radio
I would love to hug and kiss you baby
While you're standing beneath the mistletoe

Santa came down the chimney
About half past three
He got all of these presents that you'll use
See, I'll help you put on these

Merry Merry Merry Christmas baby
Oh! You sure been good to me
I haven't had a drink this evenin' baby
But I'm all lit up like a Christmas tree

Hey! Merry Merry Merry Christmas baby
I've got good music on my radio
I said, Merry Merry Merry Christmas baby
I've got good music on my radio
I would love to hug and kiss you baby
While you're standing beneath the mistletoe

Yeah I love that song by BB King! It's nice and smoky!

Yum!

I have many favorites and the following is at the top of the list.

Artist: Bruce Springsteen Lyrics
Song: MERRY CHRISTMAS BABY (Baxter, Moore) Lyrics

Bring it Down, band!
Now , I just came here tonight to say
I just wanna say ...
I just wanna say ...

Merry Christmas baby, you surely treat me nice
Merry Christmas baby, you surely treat me nice
I feel just like I'm living in paradise

Now listen
Now you see, I feel real good tonight
And I got music on the radio
And I feel good tonight
And I got music on the radio
And I feel just like I wanna kiss you
Underneath my mistle-toe

But now listen
Santa came down chimney, half past three
With lots of nice little presents for my baby and me
Merry Christmas baby, you surely treat me nice
And I feel like I'm living, just living in paradise
Come on boys

Well now
Santa came down chimney, half past three
With lots of nice little presents for my baby and me
Merry Christmas baby, you surely treat me nice
And I feel like I'm living, just living in paradise

And I just came down to say ... merry Christmas baby
I just wanna say ... merry Christmas baby
I just wanna say ... merry Christmas baby
I just wanna say ... merry Christmas baby
And happy new year too
Oh yeah
Play it boys go !
Merry Christmas, happy new year
