Favorite Author Function?

Does the "favorite author" listing enable some sort of notification for when a favorite author puts out a new post?

Since I began putting my stories up, I've had a lot of people mark me down as a "favorite author" (at least it seems like a lot to me!). Similarly, I've chosen a few of my own now that I have an actual login. Does it do more than just create a bookmark on your profile page, though? As an author, do I have a way to see who/how many people have favorited me?

Nope. Unfortunately the business of favoriting is still a one-way street. There's no feature that maintains a list your favoritees (favoritors? aw hell, fans ) nor is there a way to contact them. If your heart is set on it, I suppose you could jot down their usernames and try to PM them individually. That'll take awhile!

As far as even seeing a total number of your fans, the only way I can think of is when/if you get enough fans you'll appear on the "Favoritest Authors List" on the Favorites Portal. What I've done in the past is stashed away the e-mail addresses of the folks who have sent me private feedback (if they provided their address) and used it later to send them a quick notice that a new story is out. Use some judgment though. A notice can be a kindness if you have a multi-chapter story that people are waiting for. It might also irk folks if you're spamming them and begging for reads.

On your writers Control Panel under submissions on the left side of the page, there is a link to your recent activity page. It lists the people who have favorited you and left comments on your stories by the day/week/month.

It is great for people like me with over a hundred stories posted to keep up with new comments. It also lets you know when to check the favorites page to see if you have moved up or not.

Oh, yes, one more thing. As far as I know the favorites list is the only place to tell how many people have put you on their list. right now last place has like 232 people so it might take a while.
