Favorite Artist

artist? does a writer count? or are we talking visual art, like paintings and stuff?

If writing counts, then my favorite is definitely Oscar Wilde...all I can say is the man's a genius.

Can I say that I'm my favorite artist?? ~grins~ No? Doesn't quite count? Ok, then I'll say my friend Jason. He's a great artist! (As you may have guessed, we're both art majors!)

Deb Kass. Georgia O'Keefe. I'm also a big fan of several etchers, botanical illustrators and map-makers, but nobody's ever heard of them and they've all been dead for 200 years or more.

Great subject Lavender!

Rodin as a sculptor
Dali as a painter
And Gaudi as an architect

Don Kloetzke. (Wildlife artist)

Also like and have Gromme prints, but he is dead. Kloetzke is still around and painting.

I guess comic book artists don't count, huh? :)

Oh well. I know its not particularly original but I love the big Impressionists, with an emphasis on Monet and Seurat.

I just bought a beautiful print called Moon Dreams by Marta Wiley. I have that and a Picasso on my bedroom wall. I love Cafe Terrace at Night by Van Gogh.

My Father...

he painted (oils and water color)

you've never heard of him...

you probably never will...

but i think he did some great work...

Mondraine is my favorite abstract painter.

The dude that did the Cistine Chapel ceiling for realistic art.

Music would be the 3B's Bach, brahms, and Bethovan.

Writers C.S. Lewis and Hal Lindsey{early writings not the latter ones}

There is something highly sexual about a cello. I digress.

Actually, there is something highly erotic about a woman playing a cello. It's not such a good look on a man.

I was about to type "I don't find the actual object of the cello to be sexy," but that's a lie. I do. It's just a beautiful thing to look at, isn't it?

Michelangelo was the artist behind the Sistine Chapel.

I really enjoy his works. My favorite is either his Pieta or Moses. I am amazed at the lifelessness of Jesus and the matronly essence of Mary in this sculpture. What inspired work.

I thought it was Michelangelo but figured if I had of named names I would have been wrong, but if I mentioned the work I liked of his people would know who I meant.

Yes I agree the paintings are rather inspired looking.

Todd McFarlane
John Byrne
Nuno Bettencourt
Billy Joel
stephen King
Anne Rice

God, I hate to be a bitch and correct you. The Pieta and Moses are sculptures.

Thats Alright I need someone to be a bitch and correct me once in a while, guess I am really showing my armchair art knowledge, by screwing up the ball on that one.

A good friend of mine was a cellist. I think I was attracted to him simply from this fact. I think it is just as sexy, if not more so, for a man.

My friend described the curvature of a cello like a woman's body.

Maybe the flip side of that is that it's the biggest thing a woman can hold between her thighs without being looked at as a total freak :)
