This headache, that is. Someone is playing squash inside of my skull.

For no apparent reason, I have this monster of a headache sending bolts of lightning back and forth in there. It just started an hour ago while I was merrily (or kindof boringly, to be honest) sorting laundry, and it's like nothing I've had in years. And it's an odd one too. My head constantly hurts, but stuff that normally would make things worse, like reading or yapping with ppl like you on the screen, makes no difference.

Hmm.

And to top it off, I've got an empty chart of pills, and no open drugstore. Anyone got a house remedy for brain riot?

A teaspoon of cayenne mixed with a teaspoon of honey. Or Vicks applied to the temples sometimes works.

Sounds disgusting, but worth a try. Thnx.

I'm so sorry, doesn't sound like my kinda headache, a migraine, which I'd try to treat with caffeine.

Where is it located? Bandish? Centered? Radiating? Dull, sharp?

Take a large lump of brown sugar and put it in a glass. Then cover the lump of sugar with dark rum. Drink it. [Note: this really has not direct effect on a headache, but a couple of hits and you won't care if you still have a headache.]

An orgasm.

Seriously, I'm not meaning to be flip, it really does help. :)

Hope you feel better soon.

Naah. Not yet at least. it's just bloody annoying.

Normally, I'd say no. Because the commotion, raised pulse and blood pressure involved in reaching the orgasm would make it hurt more. This time...huh...maybe.

Thanks, EL.

Headaches have so many sources. You might try giving yourself a facial massage -- working the muscles along your jaw, cheeks and temples. You can also work on your neck (it's even better if you can get someone else to do it). If the muscles in your face hurt when you press on them, then they are probably tense and need the massage.

You might also try stretching and relaxing your neck. Use a small pillow or the edge of your bed, and let your head hang with some support (don't hurt your neck, that just makes things worse) so that the muscles are gently stretched. Breath deeply and consciously try to relax.

I get what are called "cluster headaches", which is a lovely way of saying the doctors have no particular idea why I get them. I have a very old neck injury that sometimes contributes to them, and some problems with my jaw as well. So, while the massage may not cure the headache, it often reduces it to the point where it doesn't make me miserable.

You can also try heat or cold packs (try them both, see which feels better), or stretching your whole body. A hot bath or shower can work, too. If you have access to them, essential oils like mint, lavender, rosemary, bergamot, or sandlewood, mixed or separate, can help -- a few drops on your fingertip applied to your temples, at your throat and on your wrists (especially mint and rosemary for me help)

Feel better soon!

Try flooding your brain with oxygen..
breathe in through your nose, slowly and deeply counting to 5..then hold the air, counting to 5, then breathe out through your mouth..counting to 5..do it like 5 or 6 times..it works sometimes.. :)

Sometimes massaging the top of your head helps or even pressing your fingers into it. Just be careful you don't mix the cayenne pepper and masturbation advice. ;)

Why not? It adds zing to the experience.

Feeling better now. Coffee, a sugar overdose and a nap did it.

This is uncanny...I was just going to start a thread about my headache. Hm, yep, pretty much the same thing and it's too hot out so I keep falling asleep.

Need to go out and find a better job, wish me luck.

Glad to hear it. If it happens again, along with the caffiene you might want to try a long hot shower. The steam helps. :rose:

The worst was over before I could try it. I'll go bang my head against a brick wall so I'll have a reason to.
