If they are boycotting, why cancel? The truth is they were threatening violence, and the shame is administrators caved rather than let campus security do the job they are hired to do.

I disagree....UC is well known for shutting down anyone that doesn't toe the progressive line...along with a number of other left wing universities. And most people aren't a fan of that, most people are pro free speech...but not the left. Which is why they are going to be so shitty about it.

But UCB had absolutely nothing to do with the subject assault itself. In fact, the conservative activist was freely exercising his natural rights on the UCB campus when he was assaulted, and that reality directly challenges your charge that "UC is well known for shutting down anyone that doesn't toe the progressive line." The factual circumstances of individual instances are what's vital to truth. Not honoring that essential necessity leads to lazy generalities and blanket condemnations which, in turn, are exactly what propels whatever "show" Trump is always so eager to pimp.

The so-called left is no more guilty of suppressing free speech than the so-called right is of supporting Trump in continually using the Executive to unconstitutionally wield more and more power. The Constitution does not empower the President to withhold or award funding that Congress constitutionally appropriates, no matter what "show" cause Trump latches onto for reelection purposes. One only has to remember Trump proclaiming the U.S. will never be a socialist country out of one side of his mouth during his most recent SotU address, and then almost immediately after announcing his push for federal government-mandated family leave out of the other, to understand what a fraud he is.
