Come and hang out. Bring your saw and bow or your washboard. She'll dance, but she doesn't play or sing.

Have some sweet tea or lemonade?

Don't rock on the cat's tail.

This is perfect, and I love it.

Ya'll just sit and jaw awhile with me, alright?

*comes to nap on farrah's porch, in a deep chair with a blanket ... listens to the conversation though my eyes are closed and i'm drifting away* i shall wake up at some point and take part properly, but for now i'm too frikkin sleepy after work and dinner.

s'nice porch, farrah

I want to learn to play the fiddle.

Me too! I want to learn fiddle and guitar and mandolin and banjo. Not necessarily in that order. My guitar lessons start this week.

We saw the most amazing band this weekend. They had a female banjo player, and she was incredible. My grandfather played banjo. I'm not sure why it never occurred to me to learn.

Isn't it great? You just curl up here and rest. Let me know if you need anything at all.

I repeat...will there be tits!?

Do you not have AV's turned on? My tits are right there. Now...do you play an instrument?

Oh this is lovely. I'm going to go dance happy circles in the grass. Yes.

 for both the Perg and Farrah

I've played a banjo exactly once in my life, at the sort of gathering this thread mimics, in fact. Bunch of students in North Ca'lahna, one of 'em handed it to me and taught me two chords. Pretty fun. Not my first choice, but banjos are neato. I suspect someday soon Lady P and I will embark on violin/fiddle lessons together, though she may choose cello instead.

With regard to banjos, when the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy radio show was being planned, Douglas Adams insisted for unknown reasons that the theme song had to have banjo in it. Everyone else wanted spacey sci-fi sounding music. I forget who it was, but someone came up with this, a brilliant compromise:
