If you can't grow a little food where you live you should think about moving.

I have some thyme on the balcony. We cool?

I got a peach tree and an apple tree. Lots of wild blackberries.

Lots of time.

No Thyme.

I am attempting to grow my own fruit but nothing on the young trees yet. I did have strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries.

im royally fucked as i cant get anything to grow

my dad said that the plants seem to commit suicide when i walked by

I am in the 'burbs. We managed a tomato plant, chives, thyme, sage and a few other herbs. Such a great fresh burst to any dinner.

Now I want beets and carrots and other roots but need more room.

ETA and a nice basil plant. Tomato/Mozz/Basil was outstanding.

Apricots were harvested in late May, grapes in June, figs starting in June and continuing, and plums and peaches in late July/early August.
And got a few cherries off a young tree in June.
The pears and pomegranates will arrive later, and the apple tree is young and won't produce this year.
As for the garden, it was a disaster.

Respectfully, I don't think owning one potted plant makes you a farmer.

Even funnier for what you answered to but

just amuses me.

When I was a kid, we had a vegie patch out the back... (And when we moved twice, out the side) so until I have decent room I wont grow anything.

I bought some butter bean seeds for a friend cause she grew, and she didnt even know what butter beans were. I miss them

I am a gentleman farmer. I've harvested quite a few of them.

Practice animal husbandry. But don't get caught.

Meanwhile, we *could* possibly grow foodstuffs and save a few cents. Except we'd need a greenhouse and tall fences to keep the deer out (deer can jump), and local bears can knock down the structures, and squirrels here are pretty clever. So we'd need to spend a lot in order to save a little. Yah sure.

A greenhouse is needed to have good tomatoes, here. Is it cost effective in the back yard? No. Is it worth it? Absolutely.

Gentlemen farming! I like the direction the thread has taken. I'm going to push my button.
