She looked; she saw; she wrote. We read what she had written, and then we, too, saw that which we had previously not noticed. :rose:
 
Didion had such an economy of words - she always knew the exact right words to use to convey the best understanding and impact. I always read her with the thought, 'damn, I wish I was half as good.'
 
RIP. I had not heard about this until I had seen your post.

I read her essay collection Slouching Toward Bethlehem many years ago, when I was a teen.

She was a graceful stylist and an apt observer. I related to her writing as a fellow native Californian.
