It was here! My head turned from side to side, my gray orbs move rapidly about scouring every cobweb invested shelf, every dusty, decaying table top looking for that book. That damn book was my ticket to getting the power that I needed to change the drastic situation of my life. It would prove to my teacher that I was ready for the next stage of my lessons, that I was able to control the more difficult spells that I knew Merlin was holding back on teaching me. I will show then all that I'm no longer that adept Mage they found a few years ago.
Upon my weaving around room to room my gaze falls upon a stairwell that leads down to the next level. Slowly I venture forward, the small little floating ball of light circled above my head giving me a good view of the descending stairs. The upward warm breeze of air was filled with the scent of decaying flesh. I nearly gagged with each step but my determination was stronger than the discomfort of my smelling.
Reaching the bottom I noticed several badly damaged corpses laying about this room. There were two arches leading to different rooms here one was covered with a draw curtain the other one was glowing a slightly green glow.
There that has to be were the book was. I moved over to the archway and to my dismay and glee I could not see into the room beyond. A ward! This giving me even more glee, I cast a protection spell upon myself just incase it was a damaging ward. Pushing my hand through first, I braced myself for a blast that never came about. Smiling I moved forward into...
A woods? What the hell! I slowly spin around and to my shock I don't see the archway, instead I see ... What the hell is that? My eyes follow the line of trees to what appeared to be a bridge of enormous size and it had metal horses crossing it, And horseless carriages. Panic engulfed me as I spun around trying to understand where I was sent for it was obvious to me that I walked into some kind of portal, but most portals ended up in either of the planes not .... not somewhere like this.
I slowly made my way down the line of trees, staying close just incase I needed to dart into them for instant cover. I kept looking up at the bridge watching the horseless carriages with an awe on how fast they were moving and wondering what kind of magic granted them this movement. It peeked my curiosity.
I continued to move along the line of trees till in my vision I spotted a building. It was even strange to my eyes. There were many metal horses at this gathering place and the people dressed very strangely as well. I looked down at my charcoal colored robe and realized that I would stand out with this on, but even my single piece leather armor would even do so more. I had to find some of their clothing so I could move around more freely.
Turning back into the woods I began my quest to find this strange lands attire. It didn't take long before I found another small building that had clothes hanging outside, now that was familiar to me. Quickly I ran to the line pulled off a single dress and ran back into the woods where I proceeded to change.
