Yet another category question.

Okay. So how does one decide if a story belongs in Sci-fi/Fantasy, Inhuman or Horror...or none of the above?

For example, Werewolf. Fantasy? Yep. Horror. Could be. Inhuman. Absolutely. So, um, where does it go?

And what about ghosts? I suppose a friendly ghost story rules out horror, but fantasy or inhuman...or if it's a romantic ghost should it just go into romance?

Ditto with angels....

I don't understand why these three aren't merged together anyway

It's generally let up to the author.

At Lt:

Erotic horror is generally horrific. It's a cat wehre you can go further into the blood/gore/macabre aspect without it being rejected.

Sci-fi/fantasy tends to be a catch all for everyting from dark future to real hard Mil fiction. And swords and soccery to elves/fae/magic.

Nonhuman lets you write encounters with aliens, robots or ghosts which aren't neccissarily horrific.

In general, where you post will be up to you.

Combinging them would be a mistake from my point of view. Erotic horror is "harder" than the ohters. It lets authors vent their darker side without having to post elsewhere.

Never mind, Colly already answered (and said it better than I would have)

Okay, I can understand that, but why the separation of Sci-fi/Fantasy and "non-human"--if I write a "sex with robot" story...isn't that sci-fi? (Or is it toys and masterbation...hm....), and if I go for ghosts or Angels...isn't that Fantasy?

Because not all inhuman sex is focused on the world, where sci-fi and fantasy are. Sex with a sentient horse, for example, isn't properly sci-fi, but if it's in the modern world (perhaps due to new drugs being tested) it isn't in a fantasy world either.

Sci-fi and fantasy are as dependant on the setting as the sex for their appeal. A non human story, could include ghost stories or vampires or werewolfs in settings that are contemporary and not even ancillary to the story.

That's my feeling at least. Non-human gives you the opportuintiy to write about any non human sexual activity reguardless of setting. Sci-fi and fantasy are more rigid to the demands of their non-erotic equivilent genres.

Comeon, admit it. It was the sex with a sentient horse wasn't it? ;)

Did someone have sex with a sentient horse? I seem to have missed it. Perhaps we need to start again from the top ... :D

No, quite seriously, I think that you explained the categories beautifully. The horse reference was just a bonus.
