A friend and I are thinking of starting a fan site about the horror/vampire genre and the actors past and present who have played significant parts in promoting it (think Vincent Price, Bella Lagosi, the deadly handsome Chris Sarandon, etc). For those of you who like a specific actor or type of film, and it doesn't have to be horror, do you visit or search for information on it? We're wondering if it would be worth the time and effort.

Yes, my sweet Patryn, I find these site immensely helpful. I am of perfectionistic bent. I feel that seeing a typo of mine in print is a perfectly legitimate excuse to shoot myself in the foot with a rubber band. Back to the point. I have looked up, and been immensely frustrated by, tidbits of information best found on fan websites. My current search is to discover the name of Bullwinkle J. Moose's girlfriend, if he actually ever had one.

One of my previous searches yielded tons of sites, but little results. I am, in truth, still embroiled in it. I may complete it the hard way, by physically stealing the words from the movie by hand, instead of by a website.

By all means, feed my raging desire for fact and research. Even sites that seem irrelevant to the scheme of modern day life may actually be helpful.

I've come across that problem myself. As I've already made common knowledge, I am a huge Chris Sarandon fan. He, IMO, is one of the great underappreciated actors or our time. Not only is he the most physically perfect 58 year old alive, he has a screen presence equalled by very few, if any, actors. The man's got looks and talent, he is Shakespearian trained and graduated Magna Cum Laude for god's sake, when there's "actors" like The Muscles from Brussels making more money and getting more recognition than he ever will. And he's by far not the only one. Sorry, got off on a little rant there.

Anyway, try searching his name...you get...FEH!!! NOTHING!! There's 2 sites on Geocities and that's about it.

My good friend and I like the vampire genre in general, and all we've found is poorly crafted "I wanna be a vampire they're so cool" sites made by melodramatic goth 14 year olds. What we want to do is go more into the dynamics of the movies, what the vampire symbolizes and why it is so fascinating to many people. We don't by any definition believe ourselves to be vampires, unlike these pseudo goths overpopulating the net who have no idea what the Gothic style is even about.

I, too, am a perfectionist. I hand code every site I've ever done...I find page editors to be just one extra step. My pages must look EXACTLY how I want them before they go up...so I hear you there. That's why I was wondering if anyone searched for info on movies or actors they liked, or just left it to Entertainment Tonight. :)

I search directly for names of people and films, and I particulary like sites that have a good links page.
