Fan re-writes

She probably doesn't. The story probably would get through. But if someone pointed it out later she might take the story down after the fact.

A report is about the only way I think it works. Couple years ago someone republished my entire Forced to Take My Mother story under a different name, but same story minus the author notes.

Only reason I knew is a few readers contacted me with the link. Two said they reported it, and it was gone the next day.

Laurel has allowed parody. For example, two of my stories (one originally a series):

https://www.literotica.com/beta/s/gulliver-completed

https://www.literotica.com/beta/s/just-so-elephant

Both original authors are long dead and their works are in the public domain.

The Pastiches of Oggbashan challenge had my specific permission.

This is the kicker. When it's gone into the public domain, it's up for grabs. A publisher can even reprint it without anyone's permission.

I wrote Just So Elephant in 2010. In UK (and European) terms his works only became public domain shortly before that year because Kipling died in 1936 and copyright is for 70 years after the author's death. I was four years after the limit.

Is it allowed to rewrite a story on Literotica for fun and post it here? Like say an author that is long gone and never finished a series or something similar, as long as you gave credit of course.
If a re-write, as opposed to an "inspired by," it's a no-no without permission. Some writers make an exception for long gone writers who for one reason or another (often death) don't reply to requests for permission, others oppose ALL rewrites without permission.
