"Josh Carter!"

I froze mid-step outside my office door. There was no mistaking that bitches voice. She'd been on my case since she had discovered whose son I was. She enjoyed tormenting me, I figured, as she couldn't get back at my father, god rest his soul. I didn't know how they had known each other, or what he had done to make her so detest him.

The fact that I was dating her daughter too was something she also obviously took badly.

Heh, the fact I was screwing her daughter.

That night when she found me and Jenny togther - well, lets just say I enjoyed the look of shock on her face. Especially as Jenny was screaming the house down with one of her more spectacular orgasms the moment the bedroom door opened.

She'd have turned the air blue if her daughter wasn't already. After that night, apparently she and Jenny had words, for Jenny moved in with me soon thereafter, not that I was complaining.

"Mrs Matthews," I said flatly, turning to face her. You could see where Jenny had gotten her looks from. The same large almond-shaped pretty green eyes, petite nose and long luxurious black hair. She had kept herself in shape too, I had to admit, a more mature volumptuosness than Jenny's younger curvy figure.

I wonder how she was going to take to the fact that I had proposed to Jenny last night. That she was my future mother-in-law. I doubted Jenny had told her yet, they hardly spoke now, the last time they did I knew of they just traded insults.

When she did deign to acknowledge my presence, rather than look through me like she usually did, it was easy to read the distaste in those green eyes. My father must have really messed her up, though her behaviour towards me didn't particularly make me sympathetic.

"If you're after the latest Klaudman-Reiss concepts," I said, "then you'll have to wait."

Klaudman and Reiss were a relatively new but growing company who had come to us after quite a concerted effort on our companies part against a number of our advertising competitors.

I was lucky enough to be involved in the project, after joining Ad'vantage last year as young art graduate. My talents had garnered a few lucrative contracts for the company already.

Of course, she had been assigned also, as chief liason between departments.

I was glad it was coming up to the end of the working day.

Jenny Matthews had just turned 24, she was engaged to be maaried to one Josh Carter. Jenny had large almond-shaped green eyes, long black hair. She teaches kindergarden at the school close to her and Josh's place.

I had just gotten off work. I couldn't help but look at the ring on my finger. It was amazing. I was walking out to my car when I decieded I needed to call Josh. I called his cell phone hoping he was on break, I got his voicemail. "Hey honey, its me Jenny, I just wanted to tell you tonight after we have dinner, we are going to go to my mother's and have some drinks. I figure its best to tell her our happy news in person. All she knows is that we are coming over. bye"

I hung my cell phone and got into my 2005 blue mustange, and drove home.

"Actually," said Mrs Matthews, "Jenny has somehow convinced me to have you both over my household later this evening, against my better judgement," she said. You could almost taste the bitterness in her tone.

"How nice," I replied, sarcastically. It was hard not to speak with her without returning some of the dislike. I guessed Jenny was figuring on telling her of our engagement.

With that, she had turned on one of her high heels and walked away, leaving me to finish a few odds and ends before the offices closed. Checking my voicemail on my mobile confirmed my suspicions with a message from Jenny. I guessed this evening was going to be... interesting.

The drive home wasn't too bad. Jenny was already home, as evident from her mustange on the driveway, so I parked my car behind hers and let myself in.

"Hey lover," I called out from the hall.

I was in the kitchen making dinner when Josh got home. Once I heard his voice I shouted to him "dinner will be done shortly." I started to sit the table. Once the table was set I put the garlic bread into the oven before I went down the hall to greet Josh.

"I know you can't stand my mother, and I know me and her don't get along to well, but Josh we can't hide the fact that we are going to get married from her. She will figure it out one day, specially when you go into work one day with a wedding band on."

I kiss Josh then return to the kitchen.

I followed Jenny into the kitchen. "Its not that I can't stand her, its that she can't seem to stand me," I said, hugging her from behind giving the side of her neck a smooch.

"It's not as if I have anything against her, but the way she behaves towards me is just..." he paused and sighed, "anyway, I'm sure we'll have plenty of time to discuss 'mother' later. How was your day?"

"My day was great. One of the kids in my class lost a tooth in the middle of story time, so I had to go help her." I take the bread of of the oven and drain the water out of the noddles and stir the spaghetti sauce . "How was your day?"
