A couple of months back my very respectable aunt found out that I'd written an e-novel and asked for the link. I told her there was a steamy version and a cleaner version and sent her links for both. Several hours later, purchase notification for the steamy version, still sitting on zero sales for the clean edit...

Some weeks later, at a family Christmas party: "So that's what lesbians do in bed. I've always wondered!"

And then my father and brother both asked for the link. Oh well, I guess a sale is a sale.
 
If your own family won't buy whatever you're selling, who will? I used that principle a lot back in my pre-pubescent days. I never did get Dad to buy any of my software, though.
 
No one in my family buys my erotica, certainly. No one in my family knows about it. (And I have other print and e-books to turn them to when they ask about my writing--enough for them to assume that's all I write.)
