"Family Annihilation"

In some situations, one would call it

Munchausen by proxy.

I don't believe that is the case here.

In NY, a woman smothered nine of her own children, over 12 years or so. Always, teh coroner ruled them SIDS deaths.

She did it in order to gain the attention and sympathy of a mourning mother.

Authorities caught on when her last victim was an adopted child. The potential hereditary factor was out the window, at that point.

Sick???? Yes! And that is my point :D

Has he been charged yet? I know I've seen a little bit of media coverage explaining that there were problems with the marriage and his behavior during the fire was unsettling. I can't even attempt to explain why someone would do such a thing.

They are sick twisted fucks that society needs to get rid of as soon as possible!!! Don't need ppl like that in our world. Might as well bring back public hangings. It'd be alot simpler that way.

Brat

I cannot believe that ANYONE could kill their whole family and not be insane.

So,i kinda figure,if you are insane and murder your children and feel nothin?

Well shit, you aint gonna feel much when i kick and beat you to death with an iron bar and steel capped boots.

I feel no pity at all for people like Andrea Yates. It would be my pleasure to pull the lever on her. 5 kids dead because she was depressed... Kids only get one shot at it... it's our responsibility as parents to give them that shot whatever the cost. We chose to bring them into the world, we owe them every chance at a good life...

A hearty amen and ditto to what kiwiwolf said! I only wish that in the Yates case, the husband could also be charged with criminal negligence. I believe he is almost as culpable as she is.

Yup I agree PZ... plenty of tears after the fact but what about what he could have done to prevent it?

She will probably be sentenced to life in prison. And eventually when she is released in the gen. pop. of whatever prison she is in, the other women there will make sure " What went around, comes around. "

The worst thing you can be in prison is someone who has harmed a child.
I have no pity for her. I have no sympathy for her. I have no good will for her.
Her life will be hell when those women get their hands on her.
She will be wishing she had gotten the death sentence.

Believe it or not...there really is a catchphrase for what Andrea Yates did. This "family annihilation" is not uncommon. There is (or I guess I should say - was) a family in a tiny town on northern Vancouver Island that was just annihilated by the father this week. He started a fire in his house effectively killing his six children all under the age of 12.

What drives people to do this? How can they possibly go to all the trouble of creating a family and then turn around and destroy them?

I know that temporary insanity is an overused excuse but what else can it really be called?

If someone is sick enough to kill their own kids, i don't think they should reproduce anyhow.
Bad blood!
