Only one died on my birthday. She was 31 and has a gorgeous smile in her photo. There are now 1530 U.S. military dead in Iraq. The oldest in March: 43. The youngest: 19. They aren't front-page news anymore, but they deserve to be seen.

(Sorry I don't have access to casualty lists from other countries. If not for the Washington Post maintaining the Faces site, I don't know where I'd look for U.S. figures. Still haven't seen an official count of civilian deaths.)

I think this is one of the Lessons of Viet Nam they're always telling us about. Ignore the dead. Hide the injured. Report nothing. That will solve the "quagmire perception" problem.



Then they spread stories about how people are dissing returning vets.

We're one of the main points of departure and return for units shipping out for Germany and returning. There are always a dozen greeters and well-wishers, people who come to the airport especially to see them off, thank them. I don't see any dissing of vets.

But they spread the stories anyhow, just as if people were actually doing it. Hate is a reliable bonding agent.

Speaking of deaths amang other things, we all know (if you don't you should have) that the Jews and Arabs fucked up the River Jordan so that they have no water there. Interestingly, India and Pakistan is about to face similar dilema. That's billions of deaths, right there if they fuck it up (no water, no rice, OK?). Now, at the moment, there are six streams in the Indus valley (three for India, three for Pakistan), but crucially, the up-stream water source in in the disputed Kashimir. So, what are they gonna do? Are they nuke it out, like dumb fuck Jews and Arabs? Or, are they gonna make a deal, like natural gas for India via Pakistan for the share of water for Pakistan? We shall see.

And do you notice the Latin American Govs are turning left? Brazil, Venezuela, and now Bolivia. Viva la revolucion!

OK, 1,500 Yanks dead. So far 21 Italian deaths. Funnily enough, yesterday, an Italian solder was killed while target practising. He somehow managed to shoot himself to death. Them Italians got characters.
