I'm heading there on Friday. I've been a million times before (no, I don't gamble, actually), but have found the town a bit trite the last few visits. Anyone have favorite fun things they do there? Any locals have tips? Know of good restaurants?
I'm up for wacky and kooky.
Spill it.

I've always thought there'a a coffee table book waiting to be done on Vegas wedding chapels and the people who design, own and get hitched in them...lots of B&W nitetime photography both original and pulled from archives.

New Vegas is a bit too sweet; anything that captures some of the grit left there would likely sell...or make for a cool personal project.

The "Big Shot" on the top of the stratosphere is fun. And somewhere there you can go into an indoor "freefall" type of skydiving thing they do with big fans on the floor and padded walls - it's supposed to be a blast, literally.

I love just checking out the different hotels, especially the Luxor....

The show at the mirage with the water (outside) is pretty good, along with the one for "Treasure Island". Oh, and the IMAC theater inside Ceasar's palace is worth it too.

Oh, there's also a place where you can rent Ferrari's - I would have done that but I didn't know about it until I left.
:(

Outside the region, Red Rock Canyon is beautiful for the scenery, and the Hoover Dam is pretty cool to tour also.

Have FUN!

Also check out the "Palms" hotel. It's the one they feature on Real World on MTV.

I can vouch for Red Rock Canyon. It's beautiful out there.

Hello Olivianna.

It might be too late, but try to get tickets to see O at the Belagio. It's supposed to be fabulous and worth every penny.

O is good, but Mystere is better. If I only had the time and money to see one, it would be Mystere. No contest.

I also enjoyed taking a helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon. Half day trip, including setting down for a champagne lunch in the Canyon before the ride back. You can take some spectacular shots of the Canyon and Hoover Dam.

What's O?

Mischka, is the 'copter ride very expensive? Sounds like fun.

And if you lose alot of money

you can always go out in the desert and look for bones...

drive real fast out 2 lane roads east of Vegas with the top down...

and the radio on...

eventually go back into town and lose some more cash...

sign me up for a vegas trip:D

enjoy!:rose:

Wacky, and Kooky....hmmmmmm

Marry your best friend. Thats what I did the last time we went there.

Where are you staying?

We stayed at Ballys, but when we go back I think we will stay at the Venetian.

Carlins usually playing MGM, Penn and Teller are usually at the Rio.......they have this wacko bungy jump swing thing...I forget where, but maybe go to Reno instead, and hang out with one of Lits most pop beauties!!!!!!

;) :rose:

I have to say, I was only there once, but the whole week I was there we barely left the Bellagio. I mean, we went around to the other places and all and had a look but I tell you, I just loved the B so much. So I'm a snob, sue me. Everything else was just not as nice! Although the vodka bar in the Mandalay Bay complex - I think it's called Red Square - was very cool as well.

You should have at least walked across the street to Paris....that place was pretty neat.

Thanks, all, for the tips. I've actually visited most of the hotels since I've been to Vegas many times. I'm kind of tired of the hotel scene (but I never tire of gelato at the Bellagio - yum!) and since I don't gamble...well...there has to be more to do, right? Oh, I'm also not staying at a hotel.

Anyway, I've checked out Red Rock - maybe it's time to head back. I've also heard of hot springs (which, incidentally, also contain an amoeba fatal to humans - oh well). I guess I'm looking for unique experiences...beyond getting hitched in a chapel. :)

Wacky and kooky? Sorry, I wouldn't know anything about that.
;)

A couple of my favorite places to eat: the Hush Puppy, the original one at Charleston & Antelope. Great all-you-can-eat farm-raised catfish dinner for about ten bucks. Also, Roma Siena on Spring Mountain just west of Lindell. Italian deli with excellent food & very reasonable prices.

Damn, I'd say we'd hitch up and go to the basketball games. The MWC conference games are there this weekend. We had tickets to go, but had to cancel cause the kids are sick :(

So if you like college hoops go catch some games at the Thomas and Mack. Then I'll be wayyyyyyy jealous!! :)

I forgot to add - the shows are very expensive, so if you are planning on seeing a few, it's gonna cost you.

I think the Cirque tickets were @ $95 each. But that was a year ago.

Penn & Teller should still be at the Rio. If you must see one magic show, that's the one. It's Vegas magic without the Vegas — stripped down, raw, and more refreshingly real than anything Lance Burton or Siegfried & Roy could ever do.

Avoid Coyote Ugly at New York, New York — $10 cover and a bottle of Corona for $6.50. Ouch. Plus the waitresses are bitches. I probably should have seen the movie before coming in, but I was foolish enough to wear a tie on the premises and nearly lost it.

That's really all I can tell you about Vegas, considering I was there for all of 3½ days.

I was part of a big group; we rented two helicopters, and each sits six people (including the pilot). I honestly don't remember the cost - about two hundred a person?
