F18 crash in San Diego.

No Literotican's in that neighborhood AFAIK. Fairly close to my old work and where Lucifer and I used to meet for lunch...

Here in Tucson, we had an Air Force jet go down over the University of Arizona, killing two students. If I recall correctly, the pilot bailed out at the last second. Happened in the late 70s/early 80s. It wasn't until last year that they finally modified their flight path to avoid downtown Tucson - after years of saying they couldn't. Typical armed forces bullshit.

That's one of the reasons they rarely fly the B2. One goose in a engine and it's good bye to $2 billion.

But seriously. Although I'm sorry as hell for the people who died, this sort of thing happens so rarely I don't see it as a problem. When was the last time a military jet crashed in a populated area?

Yesterday?

Sorry, to easy to pass up. ;)

But you're right. It's like plane crashesin general. Spectacular when it happens, but so rare it's extremely marginal.

CNN is just saying the pilot lost control, but not whether it was pilot error or mechanical failure that caused it. I don't know which I prefer, though I do hate to see a pilot's career go down the tubes.

They actually fly that way because in only a few seconds they are out over the ocean. The last crash I remember the pilot flew it into the water instead of ejecting over land.

Seems this one was comming in on one engine and lost that one on approach.
A mom, grandma and one child dead, one child missing :(
